The project entitled ‘Construction of a large retention reservoir in Szerominek’ will be carried out by the Municipality of Płoński. The municipality has an experienced team that has implemented several projects with EU and national funding. The above guarantees efficient and reliable implementation of the project. The project will be implemented in the municipality of Szerominek (municipality of Płońsk, district of Płońsk) on subdivision No 295/3 (district of Szerominek). The subject of the project is: - construction of an open retention reservoir with accompanying infrastructure, - planting retention vegetation and construction of rain gardens. - execution of a natural and didactic path - energy-saving lighting. The project also plans promotion and information activities such as: meetings with residents in the municipality, educational activities in schools, articles in the local press. The main objective of the project is to increase the resilience of Szerominka and Płoński commune to climate change. The project shall implement the specific objective ERDF/CF.CP2.IV ‘Supporting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, as well as resilience, taking into account an ecosystem-based approach’ as follows: - increases water retention - improves fire safety - increases drought resistance - increases environmental awareness - improves water quality. The actions described in the project are a response to the problems diagnosed in the FEM programme – the consequences of climate change, such as: droughts and storms that cause losses in agriculture, problems with access to water, the risk of fires, local flooding. The project plans activities related to underinvested flood prevention infrastructure, insufficient water retention, lack of pond. The implementation of the project will increase water retention in Szerominek, as well as in the entire Płońsk Commune, reduce the risk of flooding and fires, improve water quality and raise the environmental awareness of the inhabitants of the entire commune.
