The subject of the project - actions for the protection of biodiversity through the creation of green public spaces and ecological education of the society. The material scope includes the construction of urban parks and urban pocket parks and the implementation of educational activities aimed at shaping the ecological awareness of residents. The direct objective of the Project is to strengthen the protection of nature and the preservation of biodiversity in the area of the City of Płock by creating new green urban spaces by 2026. Specific objectives to be achieved by 2026: a)Surface formation approx. 69.783 m2 of new urban green areas based on natural environmental values. b) Creation of convenient urban natural conditions with a biologically active area of approx. 56.000 m2 for the development and reproduction of fauna and flora through the use of multi-story, multi-species, melliferous and fruitful vegetation. (c)Create conditions based on natural environmental resources, enabling social integration and increasing the sense of identity of residents in the form of 9 urban parks. Other project objectives include: a) protection of biodiversity in the area of the City of Płock, using local natural resources, b) limiting the population of invasive species, c) reducing human pressure on habitats and protected species by delineating urban parks, d) promoting knowledge about the natural values of the city through the implementation of educational activities Detailed analysis SW p.11 The assumptions of the project are directly in line with the European Funds for Mazovia 2021-2027 programme, Priority II - European Funds for the green development of Mazovia, Measure 2.7 Biodiversity, Project type: Protection of biodiversity and native plant and animal species in urban and non-urban areas. The project responds to the identified problems: Key problem: Insufficient protection of biodiversity and the natural environment, as well as low ecological awareness in the community of the city of Płock. Specific problems: 1.Unsatisfactory environmental condition. 2.The lack of sufficient quantity and poor quality of public spaces, which is the result of the dominance of concrete structures. 3.Restricted availability of city parks, not responding to the needs of residents. Detailed SW analysis p.41 Measures in the field of rational resource management and environmental protection are a huge challenge. Along with the progressing climate change, the loss of significant components that make up the biodiversity of Polish cities in the local, regional and national dimension becomes a serious problem. Urban green areas are classified as an important element of the system of public spaces of the city, they co-create this system. Greenery sets the stages of spatial development of the city. Urban greenery affects people through the possibility of contact with nature, finding respite and rest. The development of green areas in Płock is particularly important in this aspect, as the largest refinery and petrochemical plants in Central Europe are located in the city. The operation of the plant has a key impact on the state of the natural environment in Płock and the Płock subregion. Urban greenery is the link between man and the natural world. Green areas allow residents to achieve many benefits: absorb and neutralize pollution, improve the microclimate of the city, regulate thermal-humidity relations, provide shade, create noise damping protective barriers, create a landscape of settlements and cities. The construction of green areas is the creation of favorable conditions for the development of fauna and flora. The implementation of the project by increasing green spaces will contribute to ensuring the sustainable development of M.Płocka. The project meets the criteria of access and substantive evaluation. In accordance with the instructions of the application, the justification is provided in chapter 1 of the SW.
