Construction of the city park on the grounds of the boulevards in Oświęcim carried out as part of the task entitled: Oświęcim Meeting Space

The project entitled ‘Construction of an urban park on the premises of the Boulevards in Oświęcim carried out as part of the task entitled Oświęcim Meeting Space’ will be run on the cadastral parcels indicated in section H.1 of the application. The subject of the project is the development of greenery and the creation of a walking and recreation park in the city center. The system of greenery and plant species selection was carried out taking into account habitat conditions, optimization of species diversity, simplicity and clarity of composition, selection of plants of great aesthetic value, resistance to climate change and the existing network of land development. The development area covers 9.86 hectares and covers the right-bank part of the boulevards along the Soła River, located between the Salesian Department and the border of the riparian forest. The area of development is currently mainly developed asphalt transport routes. The implementation of the project aims to develop green infrastructure in the city of Oświęcim by creating a walking and recreation park on the boulevards on the Soła River. The implementation of the project will affect the preservation of environmental values and the development of biodiversity and increase the biologically active area. The total biologically active area after the implementation of the project will be approx. 78%. The sum of the hardened surface will be ok. 22% of the investment area. The project assumes a slight interference with the current plant tissue of the park. The communication system, partially renovated, and elements of land development were designed taking into account and respecting the existing vegetation, species and composition analysis with minimizing the need to remove vegetation. It is anticipated that several small trees will be felled in poor phytosanitary condition, endangering safety. It is planned to adapt most of the trees growing in the park. It is planned to plant high and low greenery with native species of trees and shrubs (including common beech, wart birch, stalk oak, common maple, two-necked hawthorn, common hawthorn, white willow). The southern part of the park, along the Soła riverbed, will be preserved in its natural, ‘wild’ character. Breeding booths for birds (15 pcs.), insects (3 pcs.) and bats (2 pcs.) will be installed in the park, which will constitute the development of green infrastructure affecting the preservation of biodiversity. As part of the investment, it is planned, among others, to dismantle small architecture and lighting poles, repair and reconstruction of access streets, existing communication routes, construction of pedestrian, bicycle and walking-bike-rolling routes from the asphalt surface. In order to minimize interference in the dense grid of root systems of trees, footpaths were designed, raised to a height of about 40 cm above the level of the ground with wood plating. The park includes a mists park, a water square, a playground, a beach ball court, a parking lot, an openwork cube square, a catwalk for dogs, the installation of small architecture and the strengthening of the riverbank slope. In addition, it is planned to build and rebuild network infrastructure and educational events for and with the participation of the local community. The project is fully prepared for implementation, has the necessary technical documentation and a decision approving the construction project and granting the building permit. Details are set out in points H.5 and H.6 of the proposal. As part of the project, ecological activities will be implemented to meet the current and future needs of residents in the field of ecological didactics. The development of the area of the boulevards in Oświęcim for the construction of an urban park will create an urban space intended for the implementation of educational events carried out for and with the participation of the local community. A detailed description of the recipients is provided in section E.1.2 of the Project Recipients, and detailed information on educational events is provided in section U. Specific information.
