The aim of the Nokia Solutions and Networks sp. z o.o. project (hereinafter: NSN, Applicant, Company) is developing a nationally innovative system that will contribute to the development and implementation of the ability to automatically scale (allocate additional resources) the part responsible for handling multimedia data in the Nokia Session Border Controller (SBC) product. The project assumes parallel work on several Nokia SBC functionalities. Some of these tasks are a natural extension of the current operation of the system, the others are a deep modification of its architecture. In total, the components will enable the addition of new functionality to Nokia SBC, in which the system will smoothly and maintenance-free change its size (virtual servers used - vCPU, memory, storage), so as to maximize the use of resources. NSN predicts, among other things, that in the most optimal case, it will be possible to reduce by more than 90% the need to add new vCPUs, after exceeding the maximum value of the supported traffic. Currently, it may be necessary to manually add the entire new media handling component, which requires an additional 49 vCPU, the new solution provides only 4 additional vCPU, for one new H.248 support module, and the addition of the module will be done automatically. Part of the project will also be to check how modern methods of artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) can be applied in a real-time telecommunications system. The project assumes the implementation of industrial research and development works. The deadline for carrying out the research tasks was planned for 24 months. The deadline for the completion of the project takes into account an additional 3 months related to the need to settle the project.
