Development of technology based on parallelized microfluidic systems for cascading filtration of animal cells in continuous perfusion culture on an industrial scale.

The aim of the project is to develop and create a technology based on microfluidic systems for cascading filtration of animal cells in perfusion culture used for the production of cell meat. Mammalian cells are not only difficult to breed, but also very sensitive to external factors, including shear forces. The results of testing uFraction8 devices so far provide a solid basis for believing that pararrelized microfluidic devices will be an excellent solution for perfusion and culture separation, enabling continuous meat production on an industrial scale (continuous manufacturing). The idea of the project is to develop a perfusion technology in which cells will cascade through filters with a layer height of 500 micrometers (um), 300 um and 75 um. At this stage, 95% of the individual cells will be captured and returned to the bioreactor. Aggregates of appropriate size will be separated and used for the production of cellular meat. The project will enable the transition of the entire industry from serial production to continuous production (contiunouse manufacturing), which in turn will drastically reduce the cost of cellular meat production. This technological revolution can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere during traditional animal husbandry, save space (laboratory meat production can produce 20 times more meat per m2 than traditional animal husbandry) and reduce disease transmission (6 out of 10 human diseases come from contact with animals). The project also takes into account the internationalization activities of the Applicant's products: 1. Biomass harvesting technology, based on pararalized microfluidic systems. 2. Technology based on microfluidic systems for cascading filtration of animal cells in perfusion culture used in the production of cell meat. It also takes into account the competency model, which makes it possible to improve the competences of employees and managers.
