AgriFoodTEF is setting up a network of testing and experimentation centres in Europe to support agri-food technology companies in developing their AI and robotics achievements and validation in real conditions and on real facilities. The overall objective is to bridge the gap between advanced research and targeted market products that support efficient and sustainable agriculture while meeting stringent user requirements. The result will be a network of 4 ‘nodes’ and 4 ‘satellite’ that will provide knowledge and state-of-the-art infrastructure to design and implement solutions for AI testing and experimentation methodologies in real-world conditions. The project assumes the achievement of objectives within six stages (Work Packages). The first 3 phases (1.Physical infrastructure, 2.Digital infrastructure and 3.ELSA compliance testing and analysis infrastructure) deal directly with the provision of services. Stages 4, 5 and 6 aim to support the creation and implementation of services and the quality management of these services, the creation of standards for their provision, the building of common service blocks, the development of the ecosystem and the market and the coordination of these activities. Each stage consists of several tasks. The target group will be agricultural machinery and food processing equipment manufacturers, AI technology providers, software and robotics companies, who, as TEF customers, will have access to TEF services as comprehensive infrastructure support to enable them to create and produce more efficient machines and processes. In addition, the beneficiaries of the project results will be farmers, advisors, food processing companies who, as users of technologies validated by TEF, will benefit from AI-based products that TEF will help make available on the market, creating a qualitative change for the entire agri-food sector. The TEF will be part of the European Digital Strategy.
