The European Funds for Modern Economy programme focuses support, among others, on the implementation of the European Green Deal (EGD) in Poland. This objective will be pursued under the priority: greening companies, i.e. supporting projects directly contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal, including climate neutrality, the green transition of the economy and sustainable development. As a result of the objectives of the European Green Deal, the Member States of the European Union should become climate neutral by 2050. Actions in the 2021-2027 programming perspective aim to focus on improving Poland's position in the process of achieving climate neutrality and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. To achieve this, the Polish economy will largely have to carry out many changes in connection with the challenges arising from the environmental and climate policy at EU and national level (areas related to energy efficiency and the development of renewable energy sources, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but also broadly understood resource management). These challenges related to the implementation of the assumptions of the European Union's environmental policy require taking action to adapt the activities of companies to often restrictive environmental standards. That is why the role of funds such as FENG is so important. The Guarantee Fund under the European Funds for Modern Economy Programme is a guarantee instrument addressed to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as to small mid-caps and mid-caps companies that want to obtain debt financing for the implementation of energy-efficient investments. Support using portfolio guarantees will be implemented through Lending Banks providing loans to entrepreneurs implementing projects corresponding to the eligibility criteria of the FENG CP2 Fund. The guarantee will provide security for the repayment of investment loans granted to finance projects consisting of: 1. thermal modernization of owned buildings (production, service, office, commercial, production and service) - a mandatory component of the project, if it results from the recommendation of the energy audit*. Thermomodernisation does not have to be part of the project if the audit shows that it is not necessary for implementation. 2. implementation of additional or additional components of the project, including, for example: related to the change of sources of used energy to greener ones, the replacement of equipment, installations or technological lines with more energy efficient ones. The rationale for the implementation of these components will result from an energy audit confirming that the project components expected to be implemented will allow to achieve at least 30% of the primary energy consumption savings threshold. Achieving a minimum of 30% primary energy savings threshold is possible by: • implementation of only the mandatory component (thermomodernisation) or • implementation of the mandatory component with one/several additional components or • implementation of one or more additional components provided that the energy audit indicates that there is no need for the mandatory component (thermomodernisation). An SME that benefits from the guarantee will be able to receive additional support in the form of a capital injection.
