Thermomodernization of historic facilities of the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases

The project in question was built on the basis of a logical structure of objectives and activities preceded by an analysis of problems in the area covered by the investment. The project objectives were expressed through quantified impact, output and result indicators. The main objective of the project will be to increase the energy efficiency of four historic segments (A, B, C and D) of the building of the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases built in 1932 in the style of national neoclassicism. The material and financial scope of the project assumes deep thermomodernization and the use of RES in the field of electricity generation and storage. Construction works and supplies related to the thermal modernization of the following building segments will include, among others: modernization of central heating installations, modernization of central heating installations, insulation of walls, foundations and ceilings, replacement of window and door joinery and replacement of lighting and installation of PV installations with energy storage. Thus, the implementation of the investment directly translates into reducing CO2 emissions and improving the quality of social space and its functionality, and thus providing residents of the capital and building users with a high-quality environment in which they work and treat themselves, which is in line with strategic objective No ERDF/FS.CP2.I - Promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The implementation of the project will directly contribute to the achievement of national and regional strategic objectives in the area of climate neutrality and the achievement of programmatic objectives related to climate neutrality in 2050. As part of the implementation of the project, the applicant planned to carry out a number of comprehensive improvements, as well as the above-mentioned modernisation works aimed at: • reduction of final energy demand • reduction of primary energy losses, • improvement of the energy efficiency standard of the building • reduction of the cost of obtaining heat supplied to buildings, • reduction of the cost of obtaining electricity supplied to the building, • use of energy from renewable sources Additional actions envisaged under the project will include increasing the environmental awareness of employees of modernised buildings through educational initiatives, increasing electromobility through the construction of charging stations for electric vehicles and the implementation of facilities for people with special needs. In addition, the implementation of additional activities related to, preparatory work and supervision over the proper implementation of the project is foreseen. Achieving the above results will directly translate into additional non-quantifiable social and economic benefits such as: • increasing the environmental awareness of building users, • improving the quality of the social space and its functionality, • increasing the visual attractiveness of the facility, • increasing the energy comfort of users • improving the living conditions of patients • improving the health of local residents by reducing CO2 emissions, tender documentation, notices, contracts with contractors, protocols and other documentation created during the implementation and durability period of the project. In addition, it is planned to mark the place of implementation of the project in accordance with the requirements of the grant agreement. The project assumes educational activities in the field of raising environmental awareness of users of modernized buildings. As part of the educational campaign, employees of the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases will be instructed on how to use thermostatic valves, they will be familiarized with the subject of waste prevention and recycling and rational use of natural resources.
