Construction of the MORGI Nature Education Centre

The project assumes the creation of a new Center for Natural Education MORGI of the Babiogórski National Park. Currently, the Park has only a small permanent exhibition located in the administration building of the Park, which can accommodate a maximum of 25 people. The planned MORGI Centre is a modern building dedicated to educational activities. The building with a net floor area of 2507.93m2 will allow comprehensive implementation of one of the statutory objectives of the Park, which is to conduct activities in the field of nature education. All rooms (except strictly technical rooms) will meet the accessibility requirements, so it will be possible for people with different types and degrees of disability to fully use the Centre. The building will house: 1.Nature exhibition with an area of 779,61m2. The exhibition was designed in a way that takes into account contemporary trends in natural museums and education. It includes a number of multimedia elements as well as activating stations, where visitors will be able to combine mental activity with manual activities. The visitors will be guided by a fox, whose displayed avatar will accompany the visitors, and the route of the tour will be marked by water, the imitation of which in the form of a mosaic in the floor will stretch from the ‘cave’ - the entrance to the exhibition discussing the geological construction of Babia Góra, to the last point of the exhibition, touching the cultural heritage of the Babia Góra and Orava highlanders. During the tour, visitors will also get acquainted with the climatic and plant storey of Babia Góra, shown both through multimedia and dioramas presenting selected species of plants and animals in their natural ecosystems. Important elements of the exhibition are also content related to contemporary environmental issues, which will be presented in the form of positions naturally related to other content. Issues related to the amount of water in nature, its circulation and role in ecosystems, issues of carbon sequestration, especially in forest habitats, and thus the importance of protected natural ecosystems (both passive and active) in broadly understood ecosystem services will be presented. 2.The projection room with an area of 88.20m2 dedicated to the display of film materials and multimedia presentations about the nature of Babia Góra. It will be equipped with modern projection equipment and audio system. Thanks to the possibility of easy disassembly of seats set in the auditorium layout, the room will also be able to be used in any way in the educational process. 3.Workshop room with an area of 68.92m2 dedicated to active education. It will have its own audio and video equipment, workshop tables and comprehensive equipment with teaching aids and tools, allowing it to conduct classes mainly on natural content (including the structure and role of the forest, large predators, weather and climatic conditions, water and its importance in nature, etc.), although it will also be possible to conduct classes related to cultural heritage. From the workshop room there will be a direct exit to the terrace (a fragment of a green roof), from which you will be able to see both the forest in the vicinity from the canopy of lower trees, and Babia Góra with its distinct climatic and plant storey. 4. Library and reading room and Reservoir with a rich collection of invertebrates or ethnographic collections. 5.The hall of temporary exhibitions with an area of 61,05m2 with the possibility of opening in the direction of a small patio, on which it will also be possible to place elements of the temporary exhibition (photos, paintings, models, etc.). 6. Cloakrooms, traffic routes... N.B.: The start date of the project is in line with the actual state of the implemented activities, the period of eligibility of expenditure is from 01.01.2021.
