Aware of the Tatras – a nationwide educational campaign on the impact of pollution on the state of Tatra ecosystems

The main goal of the project is to raise the knowledge and awareness of at least 104 thousand inhabitants of Poland about the principles of nature protection by 2027 thanks to the implementation of an educational and information campaign by the Tatra National Park. In order to achieve the assumed goal of the project, the following tasks are planned, which are the material scope of the project: 1) The documentary series will consist of 8 episodes, it is estimated that one episode will be watched by approx. 100,000 people. 2) Implementation of natural podcasts – a series of 42 episodes will be produced, it is estimated that one episode will have 3 000 downloads, 42 episodes will have a total of 126 000 downloads. 3) Implementation of the ceremonial premieres of the nature series – 8 premieres taking place in different regions of Poland (planned voivodships: Małopolskie, Podkarpackie, Mazowieckie, Lubelskie, Dolnośląskie, Wielkopolskie, Podlaskie and Śląskie), each event includes a premiere screening of an episode of the series combined with a discussion panel – a substantive debate on topics related to nature protection. Every event will be OK. 100 pers. 4) Implementation of nature tours – 18 trips to the Tatras are planned, where participants will learn about nature protection issues on the ground with the expert support of educators. Six tours will be dedicated to people with disabilities. In all trips will take a total of approx. 200 pers. 5) Promotion and communication of educational activities – includes activities promoting educational tools and offerings so that information about them reaches a wide audience. 6) Indirect costs – expenditure on project management activities settled on a flat-rate basis. The offer and educational tools prepared in the project are characterized by the following elements: - They are available to recipients free of charge. - All activities contain educational elements and have a strong educational dimension, contributing to raising the environmental awareness of the society. - The project is aimed at spreading knowledge about protected areas in Poland and species under strict or partial protection in Poland. The planned activities are aimed at raising awareness of protected areas – in this case, the TPN site and the Natura 2000 site, as well as at least 3 animal species under strict protection. - The project is aimed at activating society and increasing knowledge about environmental protection. The planned activities combine the issues of nature protection with the wider context of environmental protection, including the climate crisis, various types of pollution. In addition, these initiatives promote active nature conservation activities, including the involvement of the local community in the protection of protected areas and protected species. - In the project, the applicant planned the use of modern information transfer technologies and the diversification of educational tools. The modern and environmentally friendly information transfer technologies that the Applicant will use are primarily video materials (documentary series) and podcasts. These are digital tools that do not generate environmental damage, such as printed materials, which, firstly, absorb huge resources and, secondly, litter the environment. As part of its activities, TPN will use at least two different educational tools – videos and podcasts, tools related to field activities (i.e. field nature trips to TPN), tools related to group activities (i.e. ceremonial premieres), use of the possibilities of the Internet and social media. The technologies used for the transfer of information have a potential for development – it is possible to continue them, maintain the durability of effects, use them in the future for further educational and information activities to consolidate the educational effect. A detailed description of the project is provided in Annex II. 8 to the conclusion.
