The aim of the project is to protect natural habitats and Natura 2000 and valuable species of plants and animals in the area of the Tatra National Park. This goal will be achieved through the sewerage of tourist traffic within the routes, the reduction of non-routine tourism, as well as the increase in tourists' awareness of nature protection and the negative effects of anthropology. In the initial phase of the project, project documentation will be prepared for the modernisation of tourist routes and small infrastructure, as well as the beneficiary will obtain all necessary consents and permits (applications to the relevant authorities were submitted in June this year). The main task of the project will be to modernize tourist routes in their current course. These trails were selected for renovation by TPN field workers due to a significant degree of trampling of the roadsides, poor condition of the surface, lack of proper drainage or real threats to the safety of tourists. As part of the work, it is planned to replace the surface of trails by dismantling steps and pavements and laying new ones, as well as replacing the indicated artificial facilitations (chains, anchors, buckles). The work will be carried out from native materials, appropriate for a given place (rocks, wood, gravel material). Contractors will be required to ensure proper drainage of the routes (construction of culverts) so as to help reduce erosion. In the places indicated in the design documentation, retaining walls that retain water and loose rock material and jute mats will be set up in places intended for regeneration of vegetation. In order to protect valuable plant species, botanical supervision will be provided during the work. After the modernisation works have been carried out, it is planned to renew the markings on the routes. Another important task of the project, which is also complementary to activities related to the concentration of visitors within the routes, will be the purchase of equipment for monitoring illegal non-road tourism. It is planned to purchase high-quality binoculars and phototraps, which will be necessary during the intervention by the TPN field services. Photo traps will be equipped with a GSM module, thanks to which it will be possible to send photographic and film materials to the services at the time of recording, which will affect the effectiveness of TPN's activities. Binoculars will make it easier to identify offenses from a considerable distance. Both devices will also strengthen TPN faunistic monitoring. The project will also modernize the system used to monitor Taternica activities. In addition, the beneficiary planned to modernise the educational and information boards, which are located at the entrance points to the park and in more important locations. These boards will convey content related to natural phenomena, which will increase the awareness of visitors, as well as inform about the dangers on the trails and explain phenomena such as avalanches, strong winds, etc. As part of the modernisation of tourist infrastructure, the purchase of 10 berths adapted to the needs of people with disabilities is also planned, as well as the installation of bicycle racks at the entrance points to the park. In addition, two entry points to the park will be equipped with induction loops supporting people with hearing impairments, educational and information boards will be equipped with QR codes referring to audio description and content adapted for people with special communication needs – Easy To Read. An audio guide service will be created on the trail leading through the Olczyska Valley to Nosal. During the project, the beneficiary will inform about its implementation through information and memorabilia boards, social media, websites and the "Tatry" quarterly published by the Tatra National Park.
