Construction of the Oświęcim-Tworzeń gas pipeline

Construction of the Oświęcim-Tworzeń gas pipeline, which will provide gas transport for customers in the Silesian and Małopolska provinces. The scope of the project includes the construction of the Oświęcim-Tworzeń gas pipeline along with the construction of the Skoczów-Komorowice-Oświęcim - Stage I gas pipeline. 550m from SSRP Oświęcim to the Oświęcim-Zabor junction and the Systemic Reduction and Measurement Station. The construction of the pipeline is part of the planned expansion of the transmission system in south-western Poland as part of the Coal to Gas programme adopted by the Company. The main objective of the Coal to Gas programme is to: - connecting new customers from the power sector (environmental issues and rising charges for emissions into the atmosphere force the need to convert energy carriers). - increasing the capacity of the existing system in the area of Upper Silesia and Małopolska. The investment will make it possible to abandon the use of solid fossil fuels (coal) for heating purposes by individual customers. Thanks to the increase in transmission capacity in the area of impact of the investment, the possibility of connecting customers to the gas network will be made available, who have not had such a possibility so far and have been forced to use coal-fired furnaces. The investment will also enable the abandonment of the use of hard coal by large energy producers and industrial companies. The construction of the pipeline will allow in the future to provide the possibility of replacing installations powered by solid fossil fuels, intelligent infrastructure and gas installation in the area of impact where the development of the gas market is observed. Numerous valve-discharge units have been designed along the pipeline route, which will enable biomethane producers to be connected to the pipeline in the future. The pipeline will also be adapted for the transmission of small admixtures of hydrogen. For the transmission infrastructure currently under construction and planned for construction, it is assumed that L485 steel grade will be used, while maintaining at least the same standards as in 2014 and 2021. Therefore, it is assumed that the planned infrastructure will allow the transport of decarbonised gases, i.e. biomethane and synthetic methane, and will also allow the transport of a gas mixture containing hydrogen admixtures in the future. The implementation of this investment will also increase the security of natural gas supply to customers and thanks to new functionalities and technical parameters it will be possible to increase the use of the infrastructure in operation. Environmental decisions, location decisions and building permits were issued for the Oświęcim-Tworzeń gas pipeline. The procurement procedures for the development of design documentation, the supply of pipes, compensators, fittings, induction arches, investor supervision services and construction works have been completed. The description of the investment task can be found at: https://www.gaz-system.pl/pl/transmission-system/investments/other-key-investments/oświęcim-wórn.html Communication activities for the Oświęcim – Tworzeń pipeline construction project have been carried out since 2019 and will be carried out in the following years until the completion of construction works in 2024. Activities that have been implemented and will continue in the following years include: - launching and current update of the investment tab on the website gaz-system.pl; - communication of investments in media and social channels; - organisation of meetings with local authorities and key stakeholders; - production of information materials and their distribution to interested persons; - publication of press releases about the investment project; - marking the construction site with information boards; - organization of an information and promotion event at the end of the investment; - sponsorship of local events along the investment route.
