Construction of the Kalisz-Sieradz gas pipeline

The project will consist in the construction of a new high-pressure gas pipeline with a maximum working pressure (hereinafter: MOP) 6.3 MPa and nominal diameter DN500 of the Kalisz-Sieradz relationship with a length of approx. 62.10 km with optical fibre and associated infrastructure. The following shall be provided for in the construction works: • Construction of the high-pressure pipeline MOP 6.3, DN500 for the section of pipeline No. 1 with a length of approx. 20.8 km with the infrastructure necessary to operate it. • Construction of the high-pressure pipeline MOP 6.3, DN500 for the section of pipeline No. 2 with a length of approx. 17.5 km with the infrastructure necessary to operate it. • Construction of the high-pressure pipeline MOP 6.3, DN500 for the section of pipeline No. 3 with a length of approx. 23.8 km with the infrastructure necessary to operate it. The need to implement the Project results from the fact that in the area of implementation and impact of the Project there are distribution restrictions in the high-pressure pipeline network, which prevent the connection of new customers. The construction of the gas pipeline is of key importance in the context of the Company's strategy being implemented in the area of operation of the Gas Plant Branch in Łódź. The investment aims to implement an additional source for the distribution system of the high-pressure network necessary for the implementation of connections of new individual and business entities in the area of the Project's impact, including the implementation of the second stage of gasification of the municipal CHP plant in Łódź. The investment will significantly strengthen the current supply of the distribution network in the region between Kalisz, Sieradz and Łask. Section 3.1.2 of the Feasibility Study describes in more detail the problems and needs that determined the implementation of the Project. This chapter also describes the broader context of the implementation of the Project, including its complementarity with other key investments carried out in parallel in the Łódź agglomeration. Points 3.1.1 and 3.3 of the study describe the area of impact of the Project, which significantly extends beyond the area of its implementation and testifies to the systemic nature of the investment. The task carried out as part of the Project has a set of decisions necessary for the implementation of the investment, required by the Construction Law. The direct objective of the Project is to improve the quality and safety of operation and the development of smart gas networks, as well as to increase their importance in the modern, green energy system in the area of the Project's impact. The benefits of the project will be: • development of smart gas grids ensuring reliable gas supply to 9 new customers located in the area of impact of the Project, • improving the investment attractiveness of municipalities in which the Project will be implemented by increasing the connection potential both for new sources of renewable gaseous fuels (biomethane) and for new customers. • creating the possibility of decommissioning coal-fired energy sources by connecting new customers. • ensuring energy security for the economy by implementing the project and increasing the volume potential of decarbonised gases transported and distributed, i.e. biomethane, • increasing the use of smart functionalities (so-called smart grids) in distribution networks – thanks to the functionalities included in the project. The Applicant intends to carry out information and promotion activities for the Project in accordance with the instructions of the Manual of the Applicant and Beneficiary of European Funds for 2021-2027 in the field of information and promotion. Educational activities are also planned as part of the project. A description of these activities is provided in section 6.3 of the Feasibility Study.
