The ‘Kampania Kolejowe ABCIII’ project is the third edition of the programme on safety education for children and young people and their parents, teachers and educators initiated by the Office of Rail Transport. The main recipients of the activities are children attending kindergartens and primary schools (grades I-III, IV-VI, VII-VIII). Its main goal is to improve the safety of rail traffic through education for safety when using rail transport, moving within railway stations and near rail-road crossings. This goal is implemented by promoting safety principles and patterns of responsible behaviour of railway areas, with particular emphasis on the areas of stations, stops and railway crossings in the form of educational classes for children and young people with a nationwide range and a nationwide media campaign. These activities serve to increase public awareness in the field of avoiding threats in rail traffic, and are also a tool for creating and disseminating correct behavior and building awareness and knowledge in the field of safety. The series of classes run by UTK educators/employees will enable children to learn through play. Interactive applications, education using new technologies, participation in competitions, games and educational events support the process of remembering and assimilating knowledge about safe behavior. As a result, children and adolescents develop cognitive abilities such as attention, cause-and-effect thinking, perceptiveness; develop skills for safe movement near railway lines; develop the skills of anticipation, making the right decisions, imagination; They take responsibility for their own safety and that of others. During the classes, children will have the opportunity to learn, among others, the principles of safe use of railway crossings and the importance of road signs placed in front of railway crossings. Through interactive games and games, they will gain knowledge about safe behaviour in railway areas, including at the station, on the platform or on the train. The project is to be implemented throughout the country. It will enable you to get to know and understand the risks in the vicinity of railway crossings and active railway lines through personal experiences, real simulations, dynamic demonstrations. Education through play will be an inspiration for prevention, consolidating correct habits, refreshing regulations and verifying their knowledge among young people. The aim of the Project is to reach as many people as possible, including parents, teachers and educators, which is why, apart from classes, an information and educational media campaign will be implemented. Advertising spots adapted to the age of the audience (including the group of adults: teachers, parents, educators) broadcast in the mass media, family educational picnics, competitions will be organized. UTK has created a kind of safety element on the railway. Observations so far show that educational activities, picnics and interactive activities carried out as part of the previous editions of the Project are very popular. Children are eager to participate in lessons and other activities, and educators point to the legitimacy of safety education in the early stages of a young person's development. There is a real need to expand the education of children and young people in the field of safety on railway areas, which is why it is advisable to increase the scale of activities through the implementation of the third edition of the project entitled ‘Kampania Kolejowe ABC’, which will cover the subsequent years of children who have not yet taken part in the activities carried out under the previous editions of the Project. The expenditure incurred under the Project for 30.04.2024 amounts to: PLN 462 527.57 and account for 0.59% of the total amount of eligible expenditure in the WoD.
