The planned project "Biodiversity Pomology - Protection and Promotion of Biodiversity of the Opole County" is an initiative led by the Opole County, which cooperates with its partner - the Opolska Agglomeration Association. The aim of the project will be to comprehensively protect and promote biological wealth in the Opole County through the implementation of a number of works on park greenery (including cutting and planting), education and information. The project "Biodiversity Pomology - Protection and Promotion of Biodiversity of the Opole County" will focus on comprehensive protection and promotion of biological wealth in the Opole County. Thanks to the cooperation between the Opole County and the Opole Agglomeration Association, the project will cover a wide range of activities. Project type 3b "Development of green-blue infrastructure through investments in green infrastructure in urban and non-urban areas based on native species (e.g. ecological corridors, trees, parks, traditional orchards)" envisages works aimed at protecting the biodiversity of the historic Arboretum Park in Prószków, which will include the removal of specimens of trees and shrubs as part of sanitary cuts of the stand of trees that are completely dry, dying, broken or threatening public safety, for which possible medical and care treatments will not bring the expected effect in the form of prolongation of life or increase in the level of public safety) and the removal of incorrectly distributed and defective self-seeding trees and their clusters. In addition, care works, planting complementary plants, restoration of lawns and continuous care of the area during the work are planned. In addition, the project will carry out partial restoration of park alleys and the publication of an educational publication on the biodiversity of the Opole county, including one of the chapters devoted to the biodiversity of the Arboretum park in Prószków. The project focuses on the protection of trees and shrubs, especially species considered to be at risk, and their planting to enhance biodiversity. These measures include specific measures to protect and conserve protected species such as Cis, horse chestnut, mountain pine (cosmodial), harrier (crown) and harrier (crown). These initiatives are an integral part of the project's objectives, which aim to strengthen the protection and conservation of biodiversity in the area of the Arboretum Park. The Opole Agglomeration Association will conduct information and education activities for various social groups, organizing workshops, trainings, competitions and educational events. Conducting educational and information activities is one of the most crucial and at the same time effective methods of reaching the audience. They are an invaluable aid to nature conservation practitioners and authorities responsible for preserving our natural heritage. They allow you to effectively educate, and at the same time more accurately assess threats and plan conservation activities for nature. This form of education enjoys great popularity among beneficiaries. The campaign is comprehensive, i.e. a variety of methods and tools have been used. On the basis of the agreement concluded on 7 December 2023 between the Leader, i.e. the Opole District, and the Project Partner, the Opole Agglomeration Association, a clear division of responsibilities and scope of activities was established. The project office will be run using the local and hardware potential of the Opole District - District Office in Opole at ul. 1 May 29, 45-068 Opole, 3rd room 309.
