Trains for Opolskie - improvement of collective transport

The aim of the project is to improve collective transport in the Opolskie Voivodeship by purchasing 3 units of three-section electric rail vehicles and 2 units of four-section version – a total of 5 vehicles, adapted, inter alia, to the needs of persons with reduced mobility. The purchase of new rail vehicles for regional rail services is aimed at improving travel comfort and safety, reducing operating costs, reducing travel time, as well as ensuring equal opportunities in access to regional rail services. The project will increase the mobility of inhabitants of the Opole Voivodeship in commuting to work, schools, universities and institutions of public and cultural interest, as well as tourists, participants of cultural and sports events. It will also improve the environment and equal opportunities for the rural population, including the provision of facilities for access to the labour market. Increasing the migration opportunities of the population will make these areas more attractive, including in terms of investment. Rail vehicles will be used by the Operator to carry out regional rail passenger transport as part of public tasks arising from the Public Transport Act, on railway lines running through the investment areas of the voivodship. Currently, in the Opolskie Voivodeship, a significant part of the connections is carried out using outdated railway rolling stock, which affects environmental pollution. New rail vehicles made with the latest technologies will significantly contribute to reducing environmental degradation. Emissions of pollutants into the air will also decrease, which is in line with the European climate change policy. In addition, the level of safety, accessibility to public transport will be increased, and by reducing journey times, it will be possible to make better use of public transport, thus encouraging residents to give up their car. A detailed description of the tasks related to the purchase of rail vehicles is provided in point . D.2. and D.3. SWI. As part of the investment, the promotion of the project is also planned.
