Eco Guard in the Volunteer Fire Brigade Unit in Szczuczyn

The subject of the project will include the implementation of activities related to improving the condition of the infrastructure and strengthening the resources of the TSO Szczuczyn in connection with climate change adaptation and the development of the environmental warning system. As part of the project, the following tasks are planned: 1. Modernization of the Szczuczyn TSO building by replacing 2 garage doors, repairing the turret and installing a photovoltaic installation. 2. Adapting the area of the TSO Szczuczyn to climate change by making a rain garden, green pergola, green wall and booths for small animals. 3. Purchase of a rescue vehicle with a pick-up body with a trailer and a quad and equipment. 4. Referring firefighters to specialized training (chemical and ecological technical rescue, a course for operating a drone with a mobile measuring system and driving the above-mentioned vehicles). 5. Purchase and installation of air pollution measurement and eco-monitoring equipment. The implementation of the above-mentioned scope of activities will respond to the following leading and identified problems/needs: - Partially destroyed and exploited infrastructure constituting the TSO Szczuczyn fire station. - Intention to adapt the facility of the TSO Szczuczyn and its surroundings to climate change and to mitigate its effects. - Limited technical resources of TSO Szczuczyn resulting in reduced quality of rescue operations undertaken in difficult areas, including those affected by intense weather phenomena. - Shortcomings in the qualifications of the firefighters of the TSO Szczuczyn with regard to the legal requirements and business plans of the unit. - Reduced air quality and the risk of environmental pollution in the area of the Szczuczyn Commune, including the lack of possibility of ongoing control, and the need to monitor activities that may affect it. The project will be implemented in one stage, in accordance with the developed material and financial schedule. Taking into account the scope and location of the project in the conservation protection zone, it is envisaged that the works will have to be notified after obtaining the consent of the monument conservator. The planned date of the above-mentioned notification is Q4 2018. 2023. As part of the activities carried out so far, it is necessary to indicate the development of a technical design and the preparation of an application for conservation consent. In connection with this, the project will be implemented in the ‘build’ formula. The applicant plans to implement the following information and promotion measures: installation of an information and memorial board at the headquarters of the TSO Szczuczyn, purchase of stickers for purchased vehicles and equipment, and conducting promotions using social media (the website of the Commune of Szczuczyn and a profile on the TSO Szczuczyn's FB). These activities will be financed outside the project from the Applicant's own resources.
