Fire protection covers all projects related to the prevention and combating of fires, natural disasters and other sudden threats to life, health, property or the environment, resulting from the action of natural forces or from the imperfections of civilization development. It is therefore the fight against all destructive events occurring in nature, communication, housing, industry, forestry and other fields. In the case of fire protection, voluntary fire brigade units (VFIs) play a leading role in local rescue and firefighting operations. The most important challenge to be achieved in the project is to support rescue and firefighting services from the area of Dobrzyniewo Duże commune in the field of climate change adaptation and prevention of risks related to natural disasters and catastrophes. Over the past few decades, the negative effects of global climate change have intensified, posing a serious problem. They cause periods of drought and water scarcity, and extreme temperatures drastically increase the severity of fires. In order to adapt to climate change, prevent it and mitigate its negative effects, especially forest fires, it is necessary to support services, inter alia, by purchasing equipment to carry out rescue operations and remove the effects of natural disturbances or serious chemical and ecological accidents. Depending on the specific nature of the protected area, TSO activities in water areas and flood prevention activities should also be mentioned. In the area of broadly understood civil protection, it is also necessary to take into account the preparation of rescuers - volunteers to organize the evacuation of people and property during large fires, floods and other disasters (especially those resulting from weather anomalies) and educational and preventive activities carried out among the local community. The above issues also relate to the operation and functioning of TSO units supported under this project – TSO Pogorzałki, TSO Dobrzyniewo Duże, TSO Letniki. Units have a high need for specialist rescue equipment. In the light of the above, the Municipality of Dobrzyniewo Duże decided to implement this project, which concerns the purchase of specialised rescue and firefighting equipment for the benefit of the above-mentioned units. It is also planned to organise specialised search and rescue training for each unit covered by the project. In addition, project activities will be supplemented by educational activities related to raising awareness of the behaviour of the population in the event of natural disturbances, undertaken by TSOs as part of their statutory activities. The main objective of the implemented project is to support activities aimed at climate change adaptation and risk prevention related to natural disasters and catastrophes in the area of operation of the TSOs Pogorzałki, Dobrzyniewo Duże and Letniki by 2025. The objective will be achieved immediately after the implementation of the project. Through the implementation of the planned investment, the Applicant intends to strive for a state of retrofitting of TSO units, thanks to which it will be possible to intervene more effectively in events, which will consequently improve the safety of people, property and the environment in their area of operation. This investment is not part of a wider project. The project is an independent unit of analysis, it includes investment tasks that make the project result in the creation of a fully functional and operational infrastructure. The project does not constitute state aid. Project location: 1. TSO Pogorzałki – Pogorzałki 128, 16-002 2. TSO Dobrzyniewo Duże – ul. Lipowa 71, 16-002 Dobrzyniewo Wielki 3.
