Barrier-free apartment in the commune of Michałowo

The main objective of the project is to: ‘Apartment without barriers in the Municipality of Michałowo’ is the independence of people requiring support in everyday functioning, including people with disabilities, and improving their comfort of life. The project provides support to 20 people living in the Municipality of Michałowo. The investment will also help to achieve the following specific objectives: • improving the accessibility of housing for people in need of support in everyday life, including people with disabilities • increasing the safety of persons with disabilities by eliminating potential risks arising from inadequate infrastructure, • improving the quality of life, • fostering self-reliance, • promoting equal opportunities, • education and public awareness, • long-term effect – the project aims to create a lasting and long-term effect that will allow people in need to enjoy adapted housing for a long time and to build stable and satisfactory living conditions. This project consists of 3 tasks, i.e.: 1. Execution of repair work and/or purchase of specialized equipment, 2. Investor supervision, 3. Indirect costs. The implementation of the above-mentioned scope of activities will respond to the following leading and identified problems/needs: - AGEING SOCIETY: Older people, especially those with lower incomes or limited resources, are also more at risk of social marginalisation. The increase in poverty among older people leads to more cases of social exclusion and lack of access to basic needs such as housing, healthcare and social activities. - HEAVY MATERIAL SITUATION OF FAMILY AFFECTED BY DISABILITY: Poor financial situation of the elderly, chronically ill and people with disabilities. There is a noticeable increase (more than 30% increase compared to the disbursed funds in 2021) in social benefits received. People who require financial assistance are not able to modernize housing to meet emerging needs. - UNADAPTABLE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR APARTMENTS - Most residents live in traditional country houses, which after many years of use need renovation and modernization. The infrastructure is not adapted to the emerging needs. The main inconveniences include: no ramps, high steps and thresholds, no auxiliary handles, unsuitable sanitary facilities or their complete lack, - FULFILLMENT OF NEEDS: The implementation of needs is based on several key arguments, including: : The implementation of the Project will contribute to improving the quality of life of people in need living in the Municipality of Michałowo, obtaining subsidies will allow to adapt housing to the needs of people in need, which will increase their safety, reduce health care costs, help the elderly and people with disabilities to maintain independence and dignity, maintain greater independence and control their own lives, which is important for mental and emotional health, and although investments may require an initial financial outlay, they can bring savings in the long term. In connection with the interest in the implementation of the Project in the Municipality, preliminary surveys were carried out to determine the number of residents declaring their willingness to participate in the Project. From the data obtained, it appears that the implementation of the Project is as justified as possible. The implementation of the Project is desirable and necessary and will allow: adapting housing to the needs of older people and people with disabilities, supporting families and carers of people in need of care, improving the safety of older people and people with disabilities, and reducing health costs. This Project will be implemented in the period from 27.12.2024 to 26.03.2027.
