Centre for Social Services in the City of Łomża

The main objective of the CUS project is to integrate and optimize the provision of social services at local level responding to the diagnosed needs of residents of the city of Łomża and employees of the facility based on internal data, MOPS reports and the Foster Care Center for 2023, also taking into account trends from previous years. The establishment of the Social Services Centre (CUS) will allow the provision of social services in a coordinated, personalised and deinstitutionalised manner. A similar facility has not yet been established in the city of Łomża. In neighbouring cities, where it was decided to establish a CUS institution, this contributed to the improvement of the work performed so far mainly by MOPS, and the services offered improved their quality or new necessary activities for the local community were created. CUS Łomża will offer social services addressed in accordance with the principle of equality to the general population, adequate to their needs by supporting 270 residents of the City of Łomża, including 145 K and 125 M. The division into the number of women and men was made in proportion to the number of women and men who have so far benefited from the assistance offered by MOPS Łomża. In terms of the number of people benefiting from MOPS assistance in the city of Łomża, due to the ageing of the population, the number of people who need support in everyday functioning and the need for recreational and activation services for seniors is increasing. In 2023, a MOPS benefit was awarded to 1412 people – including 764 women and 648 men /Social Welfare Resources Assessment data. Of which: people at risk of poverty or social exclusion benefited a total of 707 families (K 764,M 648), seniors benefited a total of 344 people (K 209, M 135), people with long-term illnesses and disabilities benefited a total of approx. 400 people (K 220, M 18), people in crisis a total of 107 families from crisis intervention, while experiencing violence 146 people (K 95, M 55), families with children a total of 96 families - helplessness in care and upbringing matters and running a household and 21 families the need to protect motherhood - the total number of families with children was 217. The measurability of the project objective will be determined by covering the support of the residents of the city of Łomża and providing them with the necessary and individualized social and social assistance as part of the planned project tasks. CUS's task is to bring together different social services in one place to facilitate residents' access to the assistance needed, to enable easier access to services for people with reduced mobility, the elderly and other vulnerable groups, to better coordinate between different institutions and organisations providing social services to avoid duplication of activities and waste of resources, to enable comprehensive assistance through the integration of health, educational, professional and social services, to provide support for people in crisis situations such as homelessness, domestic violence, addictions, to help develop skills and competences that will enable people in need to achieve greater autonomy and social inclusion, to encourage residents to participate in social and civic activities such as volunteering, to participate in local initiatives and projects, to provide support for families, including counselling, family therapy, educational and recreational programmes for children and young people, to organise preventive, health and rehabilitation programmes to support the physical and mental health of residents, conducting educational campaigns on healthy lifestyles, hygiene, mental health and other relevant health issues, enabling access to free legal aid for people in financial difficulties, providing advisory services on consumer, labour, civil and other rights, regular monitoring and assessment of local social needs.
