Open yourself to knowledge

The main goal of the "Open to knowledge" project is to improve the quality of education in 5 Primary Schools in the Lesko Commune located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. Between VI 2024 and VI 2026, 304 pupils will raise key, social and socio-emotional competences, increase climate literacy and develop green skills and competences. As part of the comprehensive development programs of the school, 69 teachers will improve their competences and qualifications, ICT equipment, modern software for virtual reality classes and teaching aids for conducting attractive educational activities will be purchased. In addition, as part of the project, parents of students will also receive support, and the SP building in Bezmiechowa Dolna will be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. The project is a response to the problems diagnosed in schools and is to contribute to solving them. The applicant declares that the forms of support planned in the project do not duplicate the activities implemented under the project under Measure 7.10 entitled RaP STEAM – robotics and programming in primary schools in the Podkarpackie region. Diagnosis carried out in 5 Primary Schools of the Lesko Commune allowed to determine what problems are faced by schools, teachers and their students and what are their educational needs. The diagnosis was prepared by the school directors and approved by the Leading Authority. Surveys conducted among pupils, teachers and parents clearly show that they see the need for such activities. Among the most recurring needs of students, there is a problem with a small network of hours devoted to conducting interest circles and often the poor financial situation of the family or difficulties with commuting to additional classes (schools located in villages) do not allow to fully use the potential of talented students. There are also students with specific learning difficulties in mathematics, science, IT and foreign languages due to their deficits: dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, environmental neglect, disability, intellectual development disorders, etc. These pupils should be given the opportunity to participate in specialist-led and general-development classes in the subjects in which they face the greatest difficulties. They have very poor grades on the certificate and problems with receiving promotions to the next class, they do not see the need for further education, they do not have motivation and faith in their own abilities. A small network of hours devoted to conducting compensatory classes and specialist classes, as well as the poor financial situation of the family or difficulties in commuting to additional classes mean that these students do not have the opportunity to improve their situation. Often parents themselves cannot or do not know how to change the attitudes of their children, which is why workshops with specialists have also been provided for them.
