Together for Health

The aim of the project is to eliminate health risk factors in the workplace and adapt workplaces to the needs of the employer - UMWP and its employees. The project is implemented for the benefit of employees of the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship (hereinafter referred to as the UMWP) in Gdańsk. To ensure that the activities planned in the project are adequate to the needs of employees and employers based on UMWP source data (e.g. Personnel, OSH), intranet surveys addressed to all employees conducted (in the period IV-VI 2024), in-depth interviews among employees of the UMWP (20 interviews), experience, conclusions and report from the ‘Work for health’ project carried out, as well as source data of the Voivodship Centre for Occupational Medicine in Gdańsk (WOMP), a diagnosis was prepared regarding health risk factors occurring in the UMWP. The diagnosis takes into account the current and forecast needs of the employer - UMWP and its employees. The diagnosis was approved by the management staff of the UMWP. The diagnosis indicated that 73% of office workers suffer from back pain, in the case of manual workers it is 100%. 57% of office workers complain of wrist pain. As a result of damage to the spine ok. 47% of office workers and about 50% of manual workers suffer from neurological changes (foot fall, weakness of leg muscle strength or sensory disorders). In turn, 54% of office workers and 35% of physical employees complain of chest tightness, pain resembling infarction pain, and even breathing problems, which may be the result of a poor body position. In addition, 58% of office workers and 43% of physical employees complain of pressure related to the performance of work, 64% of people indicate sleep problems, 76% feel tension during the performance of daily duties. In addition to physical and mental ailments, employees confirm a lack of knowledge, skills and habits in terms of correct, healthy attitudes at work. The diagnosis pointed to a problematic situation involving health changes related to workplace risks, which may result in chronic illnesses, long-term inability to work or faster termination of work. The antidote to the above situation are the actions planned in the project. With regard to mental health problems, lectures on mental health are planned for all employees, in addition to group workshops on coping with stress for office workers. In addition, individualised activities are planned in the form of meetings with a psychologist, psychiatrist and coach who will help to achieve professional goals in a stressful environment. Physical health complaints: for all employees there will be lectures on the right attitudes at work, ergonomics of the workplace. Lectures will take into account both attitudes in office work as well as in physical work. Workstations will be equipped with furniture, equipment supporting the correct attitudes of employees (office, e.g. adjustable desks, vertical mouse, physical, e.g.: belts and trolleys for heavy furniture). 430 people (K350/M80) will be supported, including 423 office workers and 17 manual workers. All activities in the project will be carried out on the basis of a diagnosis. The result of the project will be to increase the knowledge of UMWP employees on: mental health, physical health in the context of workplace risks. In addition, the project will result in eliminating or reducing risks in the workplace by equipping workplaces based on the principles of work ergonomics. The implementation of the project will be based on the concept of sustainable development, e.g. training materials will be provided to participants in an electronic version. All participants of the project will be able to take advantage of the lectures of the stationary or streaming version.
