Health + work = it pays off!

The aim of the project is to eliminate health risk factors in the Gdańsk Region of NSZZ "Solidarność" (RG) through comprehensive support of 38 employees (20K;18M) in the field of prevention and health diagnostics, training related to the elimination of risk factors in the workplace as well as psychosocial risks and stress in the workplace, and improving the ergonomics of workplaces by retrofitting them in the period from 1.04.2025 to 30.06.2027. The project is aimed at people employed in RG on the basis of an employment contract and residing in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. 35 persons are admi.-office employees and 3 persons are economic employees. Problem situation: high average age of workers employed in RG: Women - 52.5 and men 57.5.Working in a sitting position, especially for long hours, can lead to various health problems. Static load on muscles and joints resulting from prolonged sitting can lead to back, neck and shoulder pain, as well as due to inactivity to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, depression. Diagnosis of DN problems. 15.07.2024 , faced by RG employees and prepared in writing, approved by 2 persons from the ZRG Bureau in accordance with Decision No 63/2023 of 8.06.2023, i.e. Chairman of the RG Krzysztof Dośla and Deputy Chairman Roman Kuzimski, is the basis for the implementation of the project. The interviews show that RG employees most often struggle with typical long-term sedentary ailments, i.e. headaches, vision problems, back pain, swelling of the legs, sometimes varicose veins. Employees also suffer from diabetes or hypertension. There are also cases of people who returned to work after a heart attack or stroke. The high average age of employees combined with long-term sedentary work also translates into lower energy levels, malaise, stress, which sometimes leads to conflicts between employees. Due to the impossibility of transferring the employee to tasks of a different nature, which would exclude sedentary work, the employer sees the only possibility of improving the health of employees in the implementation of comprehensive actions that will include the following elements: 1. Medical prevention and diagnosis: cooperation with an occupational doctor and conducting individual medical consultations will be the basis for directing individual employees to research tailored to their needs; 2. Training: a. Elimination of risk factors in the workplace (5 gr. x sr. 8os x 12h) b. Psychosocial risks and workplace stress (5 gr. x d. 8os x 18h) 3. Improvement of work ergonomics: Retrofitting workstations in order to eliminate risk factors in the workstations. The implemented actions will eliminate risk factors in the workplace, improve the physical and mental health of employees and contribute to the prolongation of their professional activity. RG is committed to the following horizontal principles: the principles of equal opportunities and non-discrimination, accessibility for persons with disabilities, equality between women and men, the principle of sustainable development.
