The problem to be solved by the implementation of project activities is too low quality and mismatch of the vocational education offer in Słupsk with the changing economy and the needs of the regional labour market, insufficient functioning of vocational counselling and promotion of vocational education, as well as too low involvement of employers in the implementation of the vocational education process. The main problem faced by students is the low quality of the educational offer, including: insufficient offer of practical apprenticeships, upskilling, skills, working with modern equipment, lack of self-confidence, inability to ‘move’ on the labour market and make life choices. The problem of teachers of vocational training is unsuited qualifications and skills for the development of new technologies and changing needs on the labour market and an unsuited educational base. The aim of the project and its activities is to improve the quality of vocational education by adapting vocational schools to the changing economy, in particular to the needs of key industries for the region. The objective of the project and planned activities result directly from the problems and needs of the target group described in the diagnosis: ‘Educational and developmental needs of vocational schools run by the city of Słupsk – quality of education’. The target group of the project are students (695 U) and teachers (36 N) of three schools, i.e.: The "ELEKTRYK" School Complex, including: Technical School No. 1 and Industry School No. 1 in Słupsk (leading: ELM-Electronic-Mechatronic, INF-IT), Technical School Complex (ZST), including Technical School No. 3 and Basic Vocational School with Integration Departments No. 3 (leading: INF-IT, Supplementary: DRM-wood-meblarska) and the Complex of Mechanical and Logistics Schools (ZSMiL), including Technical School No. 4 and Industry School No. 4 in Słupsk) (leading: ELM -electronic-mechatronic, MEC-mechanical, SPL -forwarding-logistics, this year.complete: MOT-automotive, TWO-water transport). (carried out with employers), career counselling, conducting courses, trainings, specialist and laboratory classes, study trips. W.w activities will contribute to improving the skills and professional qualifications of U;support teachers in postgraduate studies, courses, improvement training, workshops, participation in industry conferences and forums. The planned forms of support will contribute to the acquisition of new professional qualifications, which are very much expected due to the dynamics of the labour market and the development of technology; purchase of equipment and teaching aids – will allow teachers to meet the curriculum requirements using new technologies and solutions in industries, and students to acquire practical skills and effectively prepare for the professional exam and work in the profession. According to BDL Central Statistical Office data, the population of the City and the region is constantly decreasing (there is a phenomenon of departures of young people). In order to counteract the adverse migration trends of young people, it is extremely important that schools continue to co-operate with employers giving the opportunity to complete a student internship and then provide a potential job, so employers will be involved in the process of educating students as part of the project. ‘Elektryk’, ZSMil and ZST, i.e. teachers with professional counselling qualifications and providing support. In addition, as part of the project, a district advisor will be employed at the Psychological and Pedagogical Clinic in Słupsk, i.e. a coordinator who, in cooperation with advisors employed in schools, will provide support and counselling services for students of vocational and primary schools.
