The project "Strength Together - On Social Integration Wave" aims to comprehensively support the social and professional reintegration services of people experiencing socio-professional exclusion in Gdańsk. The program will be implemented by the Center for Social Integration in Gdańsk in the period from 01.07.2024 to 30.06.2029 (there are 10 six-month editions of 40 people, with continuous recruitment. The whole project is to support 400 people at risk of social exclusion, including 160 people with disabilities, which represents 40% of all participants). The project assumes activities aimed at the acquisition of social competences and professional qualifications necessary to find and maintain employment. Actions aimed at developing the necessary social skills, leading to increased self-esteem, increased motivation to act, which will translate into greater independence in life and effective search for and maintenance of employment. Participation in the CIS lasts 5 days a week, 6 hours a day, where participants receive support adequate to their individual needs, diagnosed by a specialized team of a psychologist, social worker, professional advisor and reintegration specialist. Two instructors of internal professional workshops, i.e. The repair and cleaning workshop instructor and the craftsmanship instructor take care of the increase in professional skills, in conditions where the participant requires a longer time of social readaptation and taking up employment on the open labour market. Such people first go to internal workshops and only later try their hand at external workshops with trusted employers cooperating with CIS for years, which in turn increases their chances of moving independently in the open labour market. Each participant receives specialist psychological and social support, career counselling, workshops developing social and professional skills, educational activities, professional workshops where participants gain new skills and experience. The priority of professional integration is to direct participants to professional workshops within the open labour market, to companies that have been cooperating with CIS for years, e.g. Tesco, Ikea, well-known restaurants with catering services, and Social Economy Entities where participants rebuild their skills of being an employee. This brings them closer to the last stage of participation in the CIS, which is taking up employment on the open labour market. Trusted employers very often employ CIS participants after professional workshops, enjoying qualified employees. The Social Integration Center in Gdańsk is located in a building adapted for people with disabilities and in accordance with the principle of equal opportunities, everyone has the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the program offered by the Center. The task of CIS is also to break down barriers and fight the stereotype of disability as an inability to act independently. CIS participants will also have the opportunity to improve their competences through various vocational training and specialist classes tailored to the level of skills. The result of the implementation will be an increase in the efficiency of life among all project participants, admission to the Center of at least 40% of people with disabilities and gaining employment by at least 28% of project participants. The project will be a continuation of the currently implemented project and activities in the CIS focused on socio-professional activation of people in need, experiencing social exclusion. In addition, the project will make extensive use of volunteering, which will contribute to achieving all its results, primarily in the form of support for persons with disabilities who are participants in the project through additional support, e.g. volunteers to learn Polish from the Volunteer Centre.
