The subject of the project, as well as its main objective, is adaptation of Stalowa Wola to climate change and prevention of risks related to natural disasters and catastrophes in its area, taking into account the ecosystem approach. The specific objectives of the project are: -management of excess rainwater to reduce flooding, flooding and flooding of the city's residential areas; -maintaining rainwater resources, e.g. during a drought period, in order to be used by urban maintenance units, inter alia, to cool or wash paved surfaces, including streets, and to maintain greenery in the city; -increasing the overall biologically active area of the city by increasing the areas covered by diverse high and low vegetation as the most beneficial for the environment, the local climate of the city and the health of residents; -ordering and renewing green infrastructure, located in the city centre, in order to eliminate the phenomenon of the Urban Heat Island. The scope of the project includes the following tasks: 1. Construction of an open retention reservoir for rainwater in the Piaski Housing Estate; 2. Revitalization of green areas in Stalowa Wola area by restoring the proper condition of the degraded area - Ogrodek Jordanowski located in the Śródmieście housing estate with the use of small water retention, introducing drainage and increasing the use of RES; 3. Revitalization of green areas in Stalowa Wola area by restoring the proper condition of the degraded area in Osiedle Poręby (playground and so-called. "Garden Zucha" and "Formal Garden") together with the use of small water retention, introducing drainage, increasing the degree of RES use; 4. Revitalization of the public space of Piłsudski Square in Stalowa Wola; 5. Introduction of drainage and greening elements in built-up areas, while increasing the use of RES within the Pławo housing estate in Stalowa Wola (square between al. John Paul II 12 and 14); 6. Construction of a rainwater retention system in the area of Niezłomnych Street; 7. Updating the Urban Adaptation Plan (MPA); 8. Development of identification of areas sensitive to flooding; 9. Development of a feasibility study; 10. Information and promotion activities – cost-free (logotypes, information about the project on the Applicant’s website and social media, photographic documentation, press conferences) and cost-effective (purchase and installation of information and memorial boards). As part of the above-mentioned activities, the accessibility standards included in the ‘Guidelines for the implementation of equality principles under EU funds for 2021-2027’ will be applied. 11. Indirect costs. The project is largely ready for implementation. All investment tasks, apart from the one concerning Plac Piłsudskiego (for which a building permit has been applied for), are fully ready for implementation, some of them are already being implemented (tasks 2 and 3). General assumptions of the project: the project is not of a partnership nature - the Applicant - Stalowa Wola Municipality will be responsible for the implementation of the project in its entirety. It will select external contractors responsible for the substantive implementation of all tasks.
