The subject of the project is the modernization of the existing station (overbuilding and extension of the building) along with the demolition of the main body (segm. B) and the east wing (segm. (C) – the link between the outpatient clinic building and the station. Partly in the place of demolition there will be a roof adjacent to the station serving as a shed for bicycles. The main assumption of the spatial layout is to preserve the main entrance to the building in an existing location with an adjacent hall, from which access to the ticket sales room (or cash registers), sanitary facilities and a small room for an external tenant, acting as a traveller's service. In the rear part of the main body, it is assumed to separate rooms for PR and IC conductor teams, as well as the PKP PLK traffic control room and a new staircase with an elevator to the floor. The upgrade includes facilities to provide comprehensive services for PRMs in accordance with TSI-PRM guidelines. The project also includes the development of the area around the building, the construction of external networks, the construction and installation of footpaths and squares, parking spaces, pavement, small architecture, outdoor lighting, designed greenery. On 22 October 2020, a construction project was approved and a building and demolition permit was granted in accordance with Decision No 46/20. The construction works are underway and the construction site was handed over to the main contractor in July 2024. The overarching objective of the project is to improve the quality of rail passenger services, which will contribute to improving the competitiveness and attractiveness of rail transport in relation to road transport. This will be achieved through direct objectives, including: - reducing the negative impact on the environment - the use of modern technologies ensuring efficient management of water and electricity, the use of environmentally friendly materials; - increasing the attractiveness of neighbouring areas and public spaces around the station through the aestheticisation of the station building and the areas around it (new plantings, optimisation or construction of parking lots and parking spaces, adaptation to TSI-PRM requirements); - ensuring a proper level of services for travellers, including people with reduced mobility - elimination of architectural barriers, construction/modernization of waiting rooms, provision of rooms for a carer with a child; - reducing the level of failure of facilities, their equipment and devices - new infrastructure and equipment, provided inspections during the warranty period. The project is in line with the specific objective of Priority Action FEPW.04.02: Developing and improving sustainable, climate-resilient, smart and intermodal mobility at national, regional and local level, including improving access to TEN-T and cross-border mobility. By improving the quality of passenger services (including improving the comfort and safety of travellers, removing architectural barriers and adapting facilities to the needs of people with disabilities, using environmentally friendly solutions and supporting infrastructure enabling the integration of various forms of mobility), the project increases the attractiveness of rail transport. The investment will be carried out in accordance with the principles of sustainability, aesthetics and the idea of the New European Bauhaus initiative. The beneficiary has procedures in place to define the rules and procedures for the award of public, non-public and non-public contracts co-financed by the EU in the area of contracting tasks covered by the project. As part of the project implementation, information and promotion activities will be undertaken in the field of marking project documentation, location of the information board at the place of project implementation. Information about the project will be posted on the PKP S.A. website (www.pkpsa.pl).
