The subject of the project is the modernization and reconstruction of the station building in the scope of segments A and B, demolition of the connector and allocation of segment C entirely for commercial purposes. The project also includes the construction of a square at level -1 (reduction of the area by about 5.1 m), which is to connect an underground tunnel leading to platforms (the infrastructure range of PKP PLK S.A.), the basement of the station building and the underground car park infrastructure (in the city of Rzeszów under management). As part of the project, the station building will be adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities (including in accordance with the TSI-PRM guidelines) and the energy efficiency of the building will be improved.A building permit decision was obtained on 12 April 2022. On 12 May 2022, the construction site was transferred to GW. The overarching objective of the project is to improve the quality of rail passenger services, which will contribute to improving the competitiveness and attractiveness of rail transport in relation to road transport. This will be achieved through direct objectives, including: - reducing the negative impact on the environment - the use of modern technologies ensuring efficient management of water and electricity, the use of environmentally friendly materials; - increasing the attractiveness of neighbouring areas and public spaces around the station through the aestheticisation of the station building and the areas around it (new plantings, optimisation or construction of parking lots and parking spaces, adaptation to TSI-PRM requirements); - ensuring a proper level of services for travellers, including people with reduced mobility - elimination of architectural barriers, construction/modernization of waiting rooms, provision of rooms for a carer with a child; - reducing the level of failure of facilities, their equipment and devices - new infrastructure and equipment, provided inspections during the warranty period. The project is in line with the specific objective of Priority Action FEPW.04.02: Developing and improving sustainable, climate-resilient, smart and intermodal mobility at national, regional and local level, including improving access to TEN-T and cross-border mobility. By improving the quality of passenger services (including improving the comfort and safety of travellers, removing architectural barriers and adapting facilities to the needs of people with disabilities, using environmentally friendly solutions and supporting infrastructure enabling the integration of various forms of mobility), the project increases the attractiveness of rail transport. The investment will be carried out in accordance with the principles of sustainability, aesthetics and the idea of the New European Bauhaus initiative. The beneficiary has procedures in place to define the rules and procedures for the award of public, non-public and non-public contracts co-financed by the EU in the area of contracting for the tasks covered by the project. As part of the project implementation, information and promotion activities will be undertaken in the field of marking project documentation, location of the information board at the place of project implementation. Information about the project will be posted on the PKP S.A. website (www.pkpsa.pl).
