Adaptation of the urbanized areas of the Kamień Pomorski Commune to climate change through the development of 5 March Square in Kamień Pomorski

The subject of the project is to increase the resilience of urbanized areas of Kamień Pomorski against the negative effects of climate change, including minimizing the effects of threats related to heat, droughts or flash floods. Adaptation activities under the project will include: - rainwater management, including micro-retention and retention at the place of rainfall in the form of rain gardens and sealed surfaces in the area of 5 March Square in Kamień Pomorski; - retention of rainwater and its use for green-blue infrastructure (retention system with reservoirs, educational water park, green roofs of shaders, retention functions of the fountain basin in the autumn-winter period) - activities related to increasing the quality of the bioclimate of the project area reducing the intensity of the urban heat island by: arrangement of high greenery; green roofs; Absorbent moulds; selection of materials of small architecture resistant to temperature increase; changing the type of surface to an infiltrating one; increasing the share of biologically active surface (exchange of sealed ground surfaces for permeable ones); a sprinkling function of the fountain and educational water park, or bioretentive native vegetation. The objective of the project and the above-mentioned activities are in line with the objectives of Act No. 2.12 "Adaptation to climate change" of the FEPZ in the scope of: Objective ERDF/RSO2.4. The infrastructure created as part of the project is designed to reduce the negative effects of climate change and improve the quality of use of the urban area of Kamień Pomorski, residents of the commune and the voivodship. (b) type of project: 1. subtype (a) Adaptation of urbanised areas to climate change. The project consists in improving the bioclimatic conditions in the urbanised area of Kamień Pomorski by applying effective and efficient adaptation solutions to climate change, such as: droughts, storms and heavy rains. (c) Scope of intervention: 060 Compatibility: - adaptation to climate change (exchange of road and pedestrian surfaces for permeable paved surfaces, increased retention and humidity of the area, greater infiltration, sprinkling (cooling) function of the fountain and educational water park, use of materials minimizing the heat island effect) - prevention of climate-related risks (such as: storms or droughts) and their management (green-blue infrastructure, including rainwater management system, green roofs, rebates and absorbent moulds, increased infiltration of paved areas, retention reservoirs). STAGES OF THE PROJECT: 1) Development of an update of the design documentation and obtaining a building permit (completed): Q4 2024 2) Announcement of the tender procedure and selection of the contractor for the works (to be carried out): 2nd-3rd quarter 2025 3) Commencement of construction works (to be carried out): Q3 2025 4) Final acceptance of works (to be carried out): Q4 2026 5) Promotional activities (to be implemented): 2nd quarter 2025 – Q4 2026 6) Final settlement of the project (to be implemented): Q4 2026. Actions are planned to promote the project resulting from Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2021/1060 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 June 2021, including: a. placing the signs of the European Funds, the colours of the Republic of Poland and the European Union and the official promotional logo of the voivodeship on all information publications regarding the project and documents made public; b. indication of the place of implementation of the project together with information on the co-financing of the project from EU sources by placing an information board, in accordance with the parameters set out in Annex IX to the above-mentioned Regulation. Regulations; c. include a description of the project, including its objectives and results, highlighting the fact that EU financial support has been received on the Applicant's website and on its social media page, including the use of the hashtags #EU Funds or #European Funds; d. keeping documentation to confirm the implementation of promotional activities.
