Promotion of vocational training through national and international skills competitions (EuroSkills and WorldSkills)

The aim of the project is to promote vocational training and to create space for effective cooperation between employers and vocational training providers through the organisation of national vocational skills competitions entitled: SkillsPoland, during which players are selected for the EuroSkills and WorldSkills international competitions and the participation of Polish staff in both competitions. The possibility of such promotion is created by international vocational skills competitions called WorldSkills and EuroSkills, as well as national qualifiers for these competitions - SkillsPoland. The WorldSkills initiative has existed since 1950 and is the largest competition of industry competitions in the world. Currently, it brings together 88 countries from all over the world. Since 2008, there has been a European version of the competition (EuroSkills), in which 32 countries participate. The aim of WorldSkills and EuroSkills is to build a platform for cooperation between employers and entities responsible for vocational training, exchange of experience, responding to the needs generated by the labour market and creating a unique opportunity for young people who take their first steps on the labour market. Each time, the list of competitions in which the competition takes place is a result of the demand flowing from the market for specific specialists and specialists and the desire to popularize a given profession. Since 2017, Poland has been a member of WorldSkills and EuroSkills. The main tasks envisaged in the project are: 1.Preparing and conducting annual, three-stage eliminations (regional competitions and SkillsPoland competition) aimed at selecting the team representing Poland at the EuroSkills or WorldSkills competitions. As part of the task, it is planned to conduct annual regional competitions in at least 20 competitions. Stakeholders of vocational education will be included in the preparation for the competition, including local government units, industry skills centres, universities and entrepreneurs. The SkillsPoland competition will be held in 2025-2027. 2. Among the winners of SkillsPoland, the best players in at least 10 competitions will be selected, who will be the Polish staff prepared to take part in EuroSkills or WorldSkills competitions. The exception is the recruitment of Polish staff for WorldSkills Lyon 2024 and EuroSkills Herning 2025. Preparing Polish staff for European and world competitions requires time and comprehensive training. It lasts from the moment of selecting a player during national eliminations to the moment of starting in international competitions, i.e. approx. 9-12 months. In order to prepare the Polish staff, active cooperation with national and foreign experts, trainers and representatives of recognized regional and national companies will be carried out. Depending on the number of competitions that will take place during EuroSkills or WorldSkills in the coming years, the team will consist of about 20 players and the same number of experts. FRSE will provide year-round care to players and members of the Polish team. 3. Participation of representatives and experts from Poland in EuroSkills and WorldSkills competitions. The participation of representatives of Poland in international competitions will be the culmination of about a year's preparation of the team, from regional eliminations, through the national competition at European and world-class competitions. For 3 days (in the case of European competitions) and 4 days (in the case of global competitions), players will face the tasks prepared by the best experts from a given industry on their own. 4. Each year, a report on year-round activities related to the organization and participation in skills competitions will be presented. Recipients of the reports along with recommendations will be stakeholders of vocational education.
