The aim of the project is to improve the IT tool available at infoprofessional.men.gov.pl, supporting the development and promotion of vocational education, including cooperation between employers and schools and vocational counselling for different age groups – recipients at all levels of education. Poland still lacks an accessible, comprehensive, widely recognised, coherent and interactive source of information on occupations and vocational training. Children and young people and their parents, as well as adults interested in choosing a profession or further education, acquiring skills and qualifications or retraining, have difficult access to knowledge about the opportunities offered by vocational education. An informed choice of educational or vocational path is one of the necessary elements of effective career guidance, which has a significant impact on the functioning of graduates of all schools on the labour market. Informed professional choices are based, among others, on comprehensive information about professions in which education is conducted in the education system as part of industry education and about learning opportunities in the vocational education system. The results of available studies and analyses on the status of career counselling indicate the lack of a developed professional information system as one of the main challenges, which negatively affects the decision-making process of students to choose a further educational or vocational path. This is due to the lack of a single source providing comprehensive information on individual professions from the classification of the professions of sectoral education. It is also necessary to strengthen cooperation between schools and employers and to facilitate the exchange of information. Access to quality educational and professional information is an unquestionable need of every student and adult learner, as well as an important factor influencing the effectiveness of advisory services. Up-to-date educational and professional information, developed using new information and communication technologies (ICT) and thus easily accessible (also outside school and institution), will support the self-use and use of information and level the playing field for every student and adult interested in learning. The methodological and information resources of career counselling, especially those in electronic form, provide easy and direct access to data that are key information in educational and professional decision-making, achieving professional goals, obtaining new professional qualifications and job search. Easier, direct access to up-to-date educational and professional information is a response to the needs of schools, institutions and individual users, at the same time it is a factor directly affecting the increase in the quality of advisory services provided by schools and educational system institutions. The planned project is a response to the above problems. The starting point for the preparation of the solutions planned in the project is the currently available website www.infoprofessional.men.gov.pl. It is strictly informative. It offers basic data on education fields, schools and their current educational offer, vocational counselling and employment opportunities for school graduates on the labour market and the needs of employers.
