Supporting universities in reducing early school leaving using data from the ELA system

Drop out, understood as dropping out of a course of study before obtaining a diploma, is a challenge for the higher education and science system, regardless of its causes and circumstances. This phenomenon is common not only in Poland, but also in other countries. The project refers to issues related to the activity of students on the labour market, in particular the interaction of education and economic activity and their effects. The project aims to provide knowledge that will rationalize individual educational and economic decisions of students. The aim of the project is:  support for Polish universities in taking measures to limit the interruption of studies by students, using the nationwide system for monitoring the economic fate of university graduates, hereinafter referred to as "ELA", and  support for universities in preparing workshops conducted by academic staff (trainers and trainers) with students using data from the ELA system when planning careers. Creation of a tool for generating workshop scenarios (using data from the ELA system), development of training scenarios for academic staff (coaches), development of lesson scenarios for students and conducting trainings for academic staff (coaches). 2. Preparation of the selection procedure, evaluation and selection of university offers, implementation of selected offers for co-financing.The target group in the project are universities, students, academic staff.A detailed description is provided in the section "Target group".A detailed list of costs is provided in the section "Justification of individual expenses indicated in the project budget".The project aims to create tools (e.g. to generate workshop scenarios) to support the choices made by students in three aspects: • Remaining in or discontinuing studies – with three options: complete abandonment of higher education, break in studies, smooth change of field of study (correction of studies); • taking up professional activity during studies in the form of, for example, casual work or full-time work or setting up your own business; • Further educational decisions: taking up or not second-cycle studies after first-cycle studies, choosing the field of further education, choosing the field of study after a longer break, correction of studies or a new field after obtaining a diploma. Using the possibilities of the ELA system and disseminating the results available in the system will rationalise the educational and professional choices of female and female students starting their studies on the basis of reliable information. This is to be achieved by gaining the ability to reason on the basis of data, facilitating the construction of effective strategies on the labour market and understanding the role of the higher education diploma on the labour market, thus limiting the decision to leave studies.Reducing the decision of students to leave studies will be possible by providing them with comprehensive and reliable information about the negative effects of the education disruption and the positives of its continuation. This will be facilitated by the mechanism created under the project ensuring effective and systematic reaching out to students with information (workshops/classes): • about the dynamics of the economic situation of graduates (e.g. salaries, which, according to the ELA system, are low among all graduates immediately after graduation, but are systematically increasing, and faster than average in the economy), • ensuring a fair comparison of the economic position of graduates to that of graduates leaving studies, about the strategies of students regarding their activity on the labour market and their interaction with education.
