Supporting students in improving their competences and skills

The project assumes systemic support of universities (entities benefiting directly from ESF+ support) in order to enable students to participate in international competitions, competitions and conferences. MEiN plans to systematically support all students who meet the requirements for support in the project. This will allow to increase the number of such people in the entire higher education system, without dividing it into individual universities. The aim of the project is to support students in the development of their: - competences and skills, - scientific activity, - innovation, - creativity, by enabling them to participate in international competitions, competitions, conferences. This will increase the overall number of students participating in different forms of competition within the higher education system. The project will be aimed at students or their teams whose development potential and previous experience give reason to believe that they can win competitions and international competitions of the highest rank. The support will take into account the needs of students from disadvantaged groups, including those with specific needs and those who are socially or economically disadvantaged, and provide mechanisms to facilitate their participation in the project. The support to be provided to students may, in particular, cover: - financing the costs of their participation in international competitions, competitions, conferences (travel costs, accommodation, participation fees), - financing the necessary classes enriched with practical elements increasing their competences, - covering the costs of preparation for participation in competitions, competitions, conferences and maintaining durability (e.g. expenses for conducting tests of the hybrid engine with which students intend to participate in a competition, competition or conference, publication of a study), - purchase of funds necessary to prepare the project being the subject of an international competition, competition or conference, - the cost of a tutor on the part of the Polish university (e.g. validation of learning outcomes), - additional support including reasonable accommodation and support for students from disadvantaged groups, e.g. expenses eliminating the negative effects of disadvantages due to the place of residence, e.g. reimbursement of travel costs, accommodation, meals during preparation in the country or purchase of teaching aids necessary in the preparation process, costs of the departure of an assistant of a person with disabilities, other necessary purchases in connection with the occurrence of random situations, etc. Costs may vary and depend on the nature of competitions, competitions, conferences, requirements for students and planned results. The main tasks to be implemented in the project are preparation of the selection procedure, evaluation and selection of the best offers as well as implementation of the offers selected for co-financing. The planned activities will also have an indirect impact on increasing the potential of university staff. When preparing for competitions, competitions, conferences in terms of content, students usually work with the academic staff of the university. Their work consists in jointly developing competences and skills in the practical field, thus raising the potential of both groups (students and academic staff), and consequently the potential of the entire university. Thanks to these activities, the university additionally improves the quality of education. The implementation of public intervention results mainly from the needs of universities presented to the MEiN. Barriers, waiting needs are described in the Target groups section. Information on the source of the diagnosed barriers is described in the section Description of own funds.
