WSZ in Gdańsk - education for the needs of the economy

The mission of the University of Health in Gdańsk (WSZ) is to be a market-oriented university. It regularly monitors the challenges arising from social, demographic, environmental and climate change and responds to labour market expectations and needs. It strives to provide the student (S) and teaching staff (KDYD) with access to the teaching base, which, combined with the competences of KDYD, provides S with current and desirable professional qualifications and skills on the labour market. WSZ evaluates learning outcomes and ensures contact with employers, including the appointment of the Employers' Council (description: potential), employs practitioners, main objective of the project (P): adapting the WSZ education offer to the demand for staff with education adequate to the needs of the development of the economy and the green and digital transition by improving the quality of teaching based on planned activities by 30.04.2029. The WSZ profile requires the university authorities to be constantly vigilant about scientific achievements, new methods of treatment and maintaining the physical health and mental well-being of patients. It is crucial to invest in KDYD, infrastructure and implementation of new methods of education, including digital, changing the scope of subjects so that graduates graduate from WSZ as specialists in the medical and civic professions. P includes: • preparation and implementation of permanent modifications of learning outcomes through investments in equipment, software, new methods of education - tasks [Z] 1-4 • additional elements of education for students [S]: work placements, courses/trainings, study visits (Z5) • limiting resignation during studies [Z6] • supporting the recruitment of informed candidates [Z6] • improving the competences of INDIVIDUALS conducting classes subject to modifications [Z7] Activities respond to: • labour market needs identified by university decision-makers and the Employers’ Council [RP]: expect investment in the didactic base and highly qualified engagement. CDYD (source: minutes of meetings of the Republic of Poland) • objectives of the WSZ Development Strategy for 2019-30, which emphasizes the competitive advantage of WSZ thanks to the specified profile of education, flexibility of functioning and speed of response to symptoms of market changes • review of learning outcomes specified for directions at WSZ • recommendations of the Industry Human Capital Balance (PARP 2022) 5.1. Recommendations – healthcare para. 4 (p.219) • diagnosis of training needs of CDYD (reported in the second quarter of 2023 among CDYD, return approx. 60%) • results of annual eval. surveys from S and graduates • recommendations from (self-)evaluation, assessments of directions by PKA, self-assessments, hospice results • conclusions from the review of the internal quality assurance system of education Results: • permanent (approved by the university authorities) changes in education programs, learning outcomes and syllabuses of subjects • deepened and established relations with the socio-economic environment [OSG], i.e. employers, industry organizations, hospitals • systematization of measures to prevent premature dropouts from studies • increasing the competences of teaching staff in order to prepare them for teaching adequate to the needs of the development of the economy and the green and digital transformation • high qualifications of students as specialists in medical and peri-medical professions S modified directions (2000 pers.) and KDYD educating on supported directions (160 pers.). The above-mentioned modifications of education programs are in line with ISP No. 4 of the Regional Smart Specializations of the voivodship.
