The aim of the project is to increase the availability of dental services for patients with disabilities and special needs. The target group of the project is medical and non-medical staff as well as students of the university in the field of medicine and dentistry. The project will be implemented by PFRON in partnership with the Polish Dental Association (PTS) and the AVALON Foundation - direct assistance to the disabled (FA). As part of task 1, the partners will develop a standard of architectural, digital and information and communication accessibility for dental practices and services provided in them, together with recommendations for the curriculum of dental practice staff and a description of good practices. The development of the standard will be preceded by a social survey among the staff of dental surgeries, organizations dealing with OzN and OzN, which will allow experts to obtain up-to-date information on the state of availability of dental surgeries, problems of the staff of surgeries related to OzN service and the problems and needs of patients with disabilities. The developed standard will be consistent with the standards developed in the Ministry of Health (MZ) (Accessible POZ, Accessible hospital, Accessible AOS) and will take into account the recommendations of the competition project in Measure 5.1 FERS regarding dental services for students with intellectual disabilities. The draft standard prepared by experts will be subject to extensive public consultations, among others with representatives of the Ministry of Health, the National Health Fund, medical universities and organizations associating dentists, as well as organizations representing the OzN. As part of Task 2, the standard will be implemented as a test in entities selected through an open call for grant projects. Before providing support, potential grantees (i.e. the highest rated) will be subjected to preliminary audits so that the support will be obtained by the facilities most fully prepared to implement the standard. After signing the agreements, the implementation process will be verified and, at the final stage of implementation of grant projects, also re-audited. 32 entities will provide services in accordance with the developed standard. It is assumed that 25 facilities will be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities, including by removing architectural barriers. The offer of availability of these clinics will be included in the nationwide map of available dentistry created as part of the project. The results of testing the implementation of the standard in grants will be used to develop its final version by experts from Task 1. As part of Task 3, open training on the developed standard will be organised. Participants will be people working in entities providing dental services (medical and non-medical staff), as well as students of the medical and dental field. The training will be conducted on-line and stationary for at least 500 people. In order to popularize the standard of available dental practice and services, the developed standard, educational and information materials will be distributed, among others, to dental practices, organizations associating dentists, medical universities and schools educating auxiliary dental staff or organizations representing OzN. It is also planned to include information on the Internet as well as on social media. Through the planned activities, the project fits into the specific objective ESF+.CP4.H. The main results and outputs that will be achieved through the implementation of the project: • Number of areas/sectors for which legislation or standards have been amended to improve accessibility - 1, • Number of dental providers in line with the developed standard - 32, • Number of facilities adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities - 25, • Number of persons trained under the project - 500. The effects of the project will form the basis for further increasing the availability in the field of dentistry.
