Individual Development Accounts (IKR) Junior

The aim of the project is to develop a model of operation and test the effectiveness of the system of Individual Development Accounts for children and adolescents. The project will pilot support for the inclusion of children and young people from low-income families in non-formal learning. The support model based on Individual Development Accounts will allow building their social capital for the future, instilling the willingness to continuously learn, developing talents and skills at the school stage, and consequently preventing the phenomenon of low participation of adults in learning. The project fully contributes to the specific objective of ESO 4.6 - Promoting equal access to and completion of quality, inclusive education and training, in particular for disadvantaged groups, from early childhood education and care through general and vocational education and training, to tertiary education, as well as adult education and learning, including facilitating learning mobility for all and accessibility for persons with disabilities. Through the implementation of the system of Individual Development Accounts Junior, the project provides support to children and young people from low-income families in developing their talents and interests, taking into account equal access to various forms of non-formal education. These activities not only support personal development, but also counteract social and educational exclusion. The project also includes inclusive education and training, enabling disadvantaged children to participate fully in the learning process. All activities planned in the project will be accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities, without any discrimination. Thanks to the project, within three school years, at least 6,000 children from low-income families from all over Poland will receive access to Individual Junior Development Accounts (hereinafter referred to as IKR Junior), offering financial support in the form of a scholarship, enabling them to develop their talents and interests during extracurricular activities (understood as activities organized outside of lessons and the applicable school program, the purpose of which is to awaken and develop interests). Thanks to the launch of the Individual Development Accounts system, each student participating in the project (and his or her parent or legal guardian) will be able to choose any classes in the subject of interest to him or her, individual or group, organized by institutions or institutions offering classes for children and young people. It will be possible to finance classes on topics related to expanding knowledge and skills in school subjects, as well as developing skills and interests in sports, arts and others. In the project, it will be possible to finance, for example, classes: learning programming, modern technologies, sports and movement, music, art, modeling, technical, literary, language. The participant of the project will be able to choose classes organized in a continuous or cyclical mode, weekend classes and organized during the winter holidays or holidays. The beneficiary plans to verify the training entities indicated by the pupils or their parents through publicly accessible public registers. The added value of a student co-deciding on the choice of subject and form of additional classes will also be building their social competences, such as independence, proactivity, ability to manage free time. The ability of a student to independently choose the subject of training, its form, duration can positively affect the strengthening of the key competence related to the ability to learn, including in particular organizing their own learning process or effective time and information management.
