Strengthening the research and service potential of the Center for Experimental Medicine of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice.

This project is an infrastructural project consisting in the modernization and expansion of the existing infrastructure together with the purchase and assembly of laboratory equipment and devices and is part of Priority I of the Smart Silesian FE Programme for Silesia for 2021-2027. The infrastructure created as part of the project will be used to conduct business activities, including performing research services on behalf of external entities, conducting training activities related to research activities. The infrastructure created as part of the project will not be used for teaching purposes or in the process of providing health services financed under the contract with the National Health Fund. The infrastructure created as part of the project will be available to external entities under the conditions specified in the University's internal regulations. As part of the project, equipment will be purchased: 1. Angiography system (equipment with service support) 2. Computed tomography system (equipment with service support) 3. Magnetic resonance system (equipment with service support) 4. In addition, construction works are planned consisting in the expansion of the Experimental Medicine Center facility, which will include the addition of a segment in the form of a low building (for diagnostic imaging) with a built-up area of about 500m2 together with a connector with a built-up area of about 100m2 The purchase of the above-mentioned equipment and the opening of the laboratories and rooms included in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging will allow the creation of research facilities for the development of cardiovascular medicine and related medical technologies, as well as tasks in the field of neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics. In particular, the above-mentioned equipment and the established Department will support research centres, medical start-ups in carrying out implementation works and commercialisation of the IP created in Silesia (intellectual property, including patents). In accordance with Article 50 of Regulation 2021/1060, as part of the information and promotion measures in the project, the applicant will inform the public about its implementation by posting on the beneficiary’s official website https://sum.edu.pl/ and on social media websites a brief description of the operation, including its objectives and results, highlighting the fact that it has received financial support from the Union. The applicant will visibly include information in the project documents and materials about the fact of receiving support from the European Union. In addition, in the place of implementation, the Applicant will place tables informing the public about the implementation of the project with content in accordance with the Guidelines on information and promotion 2021-2027. In particular, the following information and promotion measures are planned: Execution and installation of 2 information/memorial boards, meeting the requirements set out in the Guide for Beneficiaries FE SL 2021-2027 in the field of information and promotion; Placing a description of the Project on the Applicant's website and social media pages; Marking all information and promotion activities concerning the Project with the European Union and European Funds mark; Informing persons and entities participating in the project that the project has received funding; Information and promotion activities carried out as part of the Project will be documented. http://sum.edu.pl
