Jerzy Kukuczka Himalayan Centre

The project concerns the creation of the Jerzy Kukuczka Himalayan Centre in Katowice - Bogucice, at the intersection of Markiefka and Katowicka streets. The investment assumes the implementation of three parts of the complex of buildings with different functions: museum and exhibition part, activity zones (including a climbing wall and a large auditorium), office and administrative part. On the one hand, the center is to commemorate the outstanding mountaineer Jerzy Kukuczka, and on the other hand, it is to become a meeting place for mountain lovers, as well as an educational space that is to inspire subsequent generations to push the limits of their capabilities and achieve their goals. This place will have a significant cultural significance, using modern technologies (multimedia exhibition). The exhibition will be complemented by workshops, meetings, film screenings related to the mountains, etc. The planned initiative will also have a significant impact on social revitalization, which implemented through cultural activities will gain a new dimension. The assumption is to create a Center equipped with pro-ecological technologies, engaging greenery in public space, and thus, offering friendly spaces for sightseeing and recreation.
