This project involves the implementation of three investment tasks by the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis (applicant) and the City of Katowice and the City of Tychy (project partners). The main objective of the project is to mitigate the effects of the transition by improving the mobility of the inhabitants of GZM, by providing green transport infrastructure and high-quality zero-emission public transport, contributing to increasing the accessibility of residents of municipalities burdened by the process of transformation of the region to local labour markets. The specific objectives should include: - improving the quality of the natural environment, - increasing the importance of cycling in the daily use of means of transport, - improving road safety, - improving the health of residents and public space, - developing infrastructure on former railway routes serving industrial areas for velostrad, - increasing the attractiveness of public transport, - decarbonising public transport in the GZM area in the face of the region's energy transition. As part of the task implemented by GZM, it is planned to purchase 8 new electric buses (BN), 4 plug-in chargers and develop a feasibility study for the project. Rolling stock and loaders will be transferred to the operator providing public transport services (PKM Świerklaniec). The City of Katowice will be responsible for the construction of the metropolitan bicycle road No. 6 Katowice - Mysłowice (4,383 km) along with the accompanying infrastructure, as well as the execution of author's supervision. The City of Tychy will build the metropolitan bicycle road No 3 Tychy – Katowice (3,073 km) together with the accompanying infrastructure. As part of the task, the costs of investor/engineer supervision of the contract, technical documentation and land purchase will be incurred. The total value of the project is PLN 72 million gross, with co-financing at the level of PLN 56.46 million. Duration of the project: 17.05.2024 – 31.03.2027 GZM and M. Katowice and M.
