The aim of the project is to support students of secondary schools by the University of Silesia in Katowice (UŚ) through the implementation of practical workshops in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), i.e. artificial intelligence (SI), quantum computing, mathematics, chemistry increasing competences and increasing the attractiveness of the UŚ in the field of green and digital economy by retrofitting laboratories and implementing internships by students studying at the Faculty of Science and Technology (WNST). DATE OF PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION: 1.01.2024 - 30.06.2026 TASKS planned in the project will be implemented at WNST UŚ in the following cities: Katowice, Sosnowiec, Chorzów: 1. practical classes (workshops) in the field of green chemistry and AI and quantum informatics 2. preparatory courses for the baccalaureate exam in chemistry 3. support for participants, finalists and winners of subject competitions and olympiads in the field of chemical sciences 4. equipping laboratories 5. implementation of internships for students in fields related to the green and digital economy (e.g. chemistry, computer science) at the headquarters of companies DOCUMENT GROUP (GD): The project will be addressed to [COM 4]: A. students of secondary schools (UK/UM) B. students of the University of Silesia (SK/SM) living or studying in the area of at least one of the 7 subregions of the Silesian Voivodeship specified in the Territorial Plan for Just Transition of the War. EFFECT: 1.increasing the competences of the UK/UM and SK/SM and thus strengthening human capital and increasing their competitiveness on the labour market 2.acquiring digital competences of the UK/UM in the field of quantum computing and SI 3.increasing the competences of the UK/UM in the field of chemistry taking into account the principles of green chemistry 4.initiating by the UŚ actions aimed at improving the quality of education in order to increase awareness of sustainable development and the importance of science in the development of the green and digital economy 5.strengthening the technical potential of the UŚ Information and promotion activities will be carried out primarily on the Internet through: •US websites (project subpage, news service). The website is responsive, in accordance with the requirements of the W3C regarding accessibility and Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26.X.2016) •social media of the University of Silesia and secondary schools participating in the project •newsletter of the University of Silesia (to students and employees) •mailing - sending information to schools from which students will take part in the project and to students of the UŚ WNST and •promotional materials, i.e. posters that will be placed on the project website and sent electronically to schools as well as used in paper form to expand information and promotion activities. The information and promotion campaign will be conducted in accordance with information and promotion accessibility standards: any promotional material and event information will be digitally available and will contain information that is non-stereotypically formulated.
