Comprehensive support for the development of the Joint Doctoral School and doctoral research activities related to the needs of the green and digital economy

The main objective of the project is to increase the comfort of scientific research related in particular to the transition to a green and digital economy, especially in the mining region. This will be achieved by supporting two target groups: doctoral students (GD-I - 80 people) and employees (GD-II - 10 people) of the Joint Doctoral School (WSD) run by the Silesian University of Technology (PŚ) in Gliwice. Duration: 1.07.2024 - 30.06.2026. As a research university of the PŚ, in its development strategy, it assumes that in the area of scientific research its mission is directed towards innovative solutions that respond to the current needs of the economic environment, including the transformation of the mining region. The creation of innovative solutions in this area is carried out in an excellent part by PhD students of WSD PŚ. The project will positively affect the usefulness and efficiency of research work, among others by disseminating innovative research results internationally, building networks, raising the level of competence of both PhD students and WSD PŚ employees in the scope of consciously building a green and digital economy based on digital knowledge and skills. The target groups are described in more detail in paragraph . C.1.1., TPST link – in point B.6.2. of the proposal. The result of the project will be an increase in the level of scientific work in WSD PŚ. The main tasks of the project and the methods of their implementation include co-financing the costs of research, publications, translations, participation in conferences, study trips abroad, study visits and trainings, necessary in the process of implementing the doctorate in the scope described in the Individual Research Plan (IPB) and consistent development of the green and digital economy (GD-I). With regard to GD-II, the project's tasks include the possibility of improving competences by participating in training in the scope of the needs listed in the survey, equipping WSD with furniture or equipment facilitating work, taking into account people with special needs (NPOs). Information and promotion activities will be carried out primarily on the social media of the WP and on the website of the project and the WP. A number of information meetings on the different forms of support provided for in the project are also planned. News will be sent in the form of e-mails, posters and announcements to potential recipients. Message formats are foreseen to be readable by the target groups, with a particular focus on NSAs. The planned wide promotion of the above-mentioned channels will allow reaching interested people and responds to diagnosed barriers such as access for people from rural areas, difficult access, plan of the day related to the professional activity of learners. The electronic form of project promotion will optimise the costs of paper consumption (posts, messages, links, necessary printouts on recycled paper) – in line with the principle of sustainability. Information and promotional materials will be adapted to the needs of OzN, PŚ has been conducting a policy of taking into account the needs of OzN for years, including through appropriate options for displaying websites. Information and promotion activities under the project will each time include the fulfilment of the obligation to inform the public about the EU funding of the project, in accordance with the general regulation and Annex IX – Communication and Visibility, as well as the provisions of the manual of the applicant and beneficiary of European Funds for the period 2021-2027. https://www.polsl.pl/
