CAWOK - safety in the RESA zone.Innovative Remote Tower System of the AFIS Air Information Service

Warmia i Mazury Sp. z o.o. is the manager of a public use airport with a referen code. 4C, CAT II ILS. The Manager holds a certificate of Air Navigation Services in the field of AFIS Air Information Service, Air Communications Service and Meteorological Services. The entire airport infrastructure, including the ILS system, the lighting system, the communication system and buildings, including the TWR building and the Terminal building, is located within the Olsztyn-Mazury airport. In the TWR building there is both the Air Traffic Control Service (ATC) provided by PANSA and the Airport Air Information Service (AFIS) provided by the Contracting Authority. Currently, AFIS is provided in a traditional manner on the basis of its own staff in accordance with the scope of its certificate. The project includes the deployment of the AFIS remote aerodrome information service tower, the service will continue to be provided by its own staff so far. As part of the task: - preparation for operational operation of room 1.60 on the 1st floor in the passenger terminal building as a place for Remote Tower Center (RTC), - installation in the operating room (RTC) of monitors in the form of a "video wall" to view the airport area and approach zones and the necessary software enabling the integration of multiple data streams, - installation at the airport of cameras from which data will be presented on monitors. Installation of cameras: on the TWR tower building of the airport, on the RVR sensor masts (an element of the AWOS system located on approach 01 and 19), on the building of the Airport Rescue and Firefighting Service and on the hangar. The contractor will adjust the number of cameras providing coverage of the airport in the range of 180 degrees - a central panoramic view, guaranteeing no gaps between the cameras.Signals from all cameras will be transmitted after two independent fiber optic cables that will connect all devices and take-aways. The cables will be introduced into the existing teletechnical sewerage system of the airport, ensuring separation and redundancy of the system. Termination of cables in fiber optic switches in server rooms of both rooms, i.e. the Tower building and the passenger terminal in the SC/PC standard. All cables transmitting the signal from the cameras converge to the central point in the server room, and the signals from them will be processed and after processing sent to the CWP (Informer's Workplace) in the terminal room dedicated to the work of the AFIS Informer. EAVD - Front-end software and RT solutions platform. - creating and installing servers supporting the application and archiving data in server rooms. None of the above activities have been undertaken as part of the project so far. Remote AFIS will provide flight information services based on the view from video cameras operating also in low visibility and night conditions, a view of the operationally required areas of the aerodrome will be available. Permanent elements of systems functioning at the Olsztyn - Mazury airport will be applied to the visual representation. All collected and necessary data will be displayed on monitor screens, using a system of integrated monitors (video wall – video wall) providing a uniform, smooth and high-quality visual image. In addition, the visual representation of the aerodrome will be complemented by elements improving the situational awareness of the AFIS informant, such as the reproduction of sounds from the aerodrome (e.g. engine noise, wind noise, bird noise, etc.). SESAR: Remote AFIS for the provision of remote air traffic services for air operations at small and medium-sized aerodromes. The project assumes the installation and implementation of a comprehensive service at the airport (in single SM mode). The implementation of the project will make it possible to offer the finished product to other entities, small and medium-sized airports (in multiple or switch mode) from one (base) location located at the Olsztyn-Mazury Airport (acting as RTC).
