The subject of the project is the adaptation of the historic complex of buildings at ul. Piłsudskiego 38 in Olszyna (plot No 108/7, 108/9, 108/13 within 109), where the Olsztyn Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory are located, the Municipal Public Library ‘Planeta 11’ and the BWA Art Exhibition Office in Olsztyn, together with the necessary infrastructure to expand and make the cultural offer of the facility more attractive and to purchase equipment. The scope of work includes carrying out a thorough reconstruction of the facility, adapting it to the needs of people with disabilities, construction of a rainwater retention tank and reconstruction of the atrium and installation of outdoor lighting. The new digital projection system and screen will increase the possibilities of displaying astronomical shows, popular science films and other films in fulldome technology throughout the dome. Thanks to the performance of exhibitions presenting in an interactive way topics in the field of astronautics and meteorites (in the lower and upper halls of the planetarium), the transmission of cultural content will become an attractive form of spending free time. As part of the project, it is also planned to expand the activity with the installation of a modern interactive exhibition entitled: The lunar habitat. The arrangement of space in the form of a space base will allow you to perform certain activities necessary to survive outside the Earth's environment, and the various exposure scenarios prepared will take into account various aspects of life outside Earth. The project "Modernization of the Olsztyn Planetarium with the creation of the Lunar Habitat" was entered into the Program Contract for Warmia and Mazury. As part of the project, the following scope is planned: 1. reconstruction of the Olsztyn Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory, including the purchase of permanent equipment, 2. purchase of interactive exhibitions, 3. investor supervision, 4. purchase of mobile equipment, 5. project promotion. Modernization of the Olsztyn Planetarium will allow for: 1. Increasing the number of people using the offer of the Olsztyn Planetarium and the Astronomical Observatory by creating the Lunar Habitat. 2. Enriching the cultural and educational offer by equipping the unit with modern multimedia infrastructure. 3. Increasing the tourist attractiveness of OPiOA by increasing the cultural and educational offer of the unit, which is a part of the Copernicus Tourist Trail, commemorating the figure of Nicolaus Copernicus and his links with Warmia and Mazury.
