As part of the project, four 740-series locomotives of the applicant Skanska will be equipped with the ETCS on-board unit. ETCS is a modern and standardised rail safety system that is used to improve the safety and efficiency of rail transport in Europe. ETCS has been developed to replace different national train traffic management systems and improve interoperability between rail networks in different countries.
