Building laboratory capacities of the SZU for the determination of emerging contaminants of drinking water and bathing water for the purposes of state health surveillance and state administration

The project responds to the publication of the new EU Directive 2020/2184 on the quality of water intended for human consumption, which introduces a completely new approach to the monitoring and control of emerging contaminants/microorganisms. The Directive added the following micro-organisms/substances to the parameters: somatic coliphages (as an indicator of the presence of viruses), perfluorinated substances (PFAS), bisphenol A and haloacetic acids (HAA). The implementation of these requirements will require the building of sufficient laboratory capacity.
