The project builds on the 1st stage of the revitalization of the Žehuňský Pond IPA, which was implemented between 2020 and 2023 and during which approximately 50 000 m3 of sediment was removed. Since the pond has never been muddied since its foundation in the 15th century, the amount of sediment before Stage 1 was estimated at approximately 480,000 m3. Its removal is necessary for the preservation of valuable communities that occur in the SPA and because of the financial demands it can be implemented only in stages.
