Overall objective of the project: Functioning of a mixed sustainable urban transport system in the city of Alesd. The introduction of a clean public transport system is a necessity at the level of the city of Alesd because it responds to two real needs. On the one hand, in the near future, Romania must comply with the European requirements regarding the reduction of CO2 emissions, and SUMP Aleșd presents this desideratum, Romania having transposed into law the EU policies in this field, and a number of national strategies stipulate, in addition, the concerns for environmental protection and sustainable development. On the other hand, the need to implement such public transport is determined by the progresses and developments that mark the life of Alesd, a relevant element being that of the development of the industrial area of the city, which will contribute to the economic development of the city and implicitly to a support of the social environment (more jobs, more people).
