At the same time, in addition to their own inhabitants and potential investors, commuters, residents or tourists, small towns also serve nearby rural areas, so they also play an important role in meeting the socio-economic, cultural, educational needs of rural populations, which are characterised to a large extent by high poverty rates, demographic ageing, lack of access to basic services, underdevelopment of capital.
