The aim of the doctoral project is to study novel ways of managing radioactive waste and to develop a cost-effective waste management strategy for small countries interested in small modular reactors, whose waste streams are significantly smaller than those of large countries. The methodology and tools developed for the development of the waste management strategy are also applied to the development of the existing historical radioactive waste management strategy, which in its volume does not justify the establishment of a full-scale industry.
