The aim of the project is the development of Lake Saldus and the coastal zone, creating high-quality and safe environmental infrastructure and access to the public water environment for the recreation of the population. Actions planned under the project: • the removal of aquatic plants, sludge and the improvement of the cover and riparian zone by increasing the effect of water waves and delaying the accelerated aging of the lake; • creation of an urban bathing area; • construction of a wooden footbridge for easier access of residents to the recreation area; • transformation of the historical trail, arrangement - gravel, creation of a crushed stone covering from the viewing area on Jelgavas Street to the new beach; • placement of wooden lounges in the whole territory of the slope between the parking lot of Jelgavas Street and the terrace on the beach; • installation of children's play equipment in the cleaned area between the trees and the trail; • construction of environmentally friendly LED lighting; • installation of pontoon platforms in the water zone; • construction of a boat berth (free of charge for public use); • installation of furnishing equipment - benches, garbage bins, changing room; • Installation of a video surveillance system (4 camcorders) for the safety of visitors. Project implementation time: Q2 2024 / Q3 2025 Project funding: the total eligible cost of the project is EUR 1 170 890.79, with European Regional Development Fund financing of EUR 800 000.00 and Saldus Municipality financing of EUR 370 890.79;
